Bronchoplant is a phytopreparation with expectorant, bronchospasmolytic and antimicrobial action.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - syrup: brown with a characteristic odor (100 ml each in brown / orange glass bottles with first opening control; in a cardboard box 1 bottle complete with a measuring cup or without it and instructions for using Bronchoplant).

Composition of 100 g syrup:

  • liquid extract of common thyme herb * (with a thymol content of 0.028%) - 9 g;
  • auxiliary components: purified water, caramel color, potassium sorbate, liquid sorbitol (non-crystallizing), glycerol, citric acid monohydrate.

* Derived from the herb common thyme (Thymus vulgaris L., Lamiaceae family). The ratio of medicinal plants to extract is 1 ÷ 2–2.5. Extractant: aqueous ammonia 25%, glycerin 100%, ethanol 95%, purified water in a ratio of 1 ÷ 42.5 ÷ 162.5 ÷ 294.

Pharmacodynamics

Bronchoplant is a herbal remedy with an expectorant effect. Dilutes phlegm and reduces its viscosity. Also has antimicrobial activity.

Pharmacokinetics

The properties of the drug are the result of the combined action of biologically active components of the herb extract of common thyme, therefore, pharmacokinetic studies are impossible.

Taken together, substances cannot be traced using bio-research and markers.

Indications for use

Bronchoplant is used in the complex therapy of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by a cough with difficult sputum discharge, including tracheitis, bronchitis, tracheobronchitis and whooping cough.

Contraindications

Absolute:

  • peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the acute stage;
  • gastritis;
  • deficiency of sucrase / isomaltase, glucose-galactose malabsorption, hereditary fructose intolerance;
  • decompensation of the heart rate;
  • children's age up to 1 year;
  • hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.

Relative (Bronchoplant syrup should be used with caution):

  • diseases of the brain;
  • traumatic brain injury;
  • alcoholism;
  • liver disease;
  • children's age from 1 year.

Bronchoplant, instructions for use: method and dosage

Bronchoplant syrup should be taken orally in pure form or diluted with water. Meal timing doesn't matter.

Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the following dosage regimen is recommended, depending on age:

  • children 1–5 years old: 5 ml (1 teaspoon) 2-3 times a day;
  • children 5-12 years old: 5-10 ml (1-2 teaspoons) 3-4 times a day;
  • children from 12 years old and adults: 10-15 ml (2-3 teaspoons) 3-4 times a day.

The duration of treatment is determined by the therapeutic need and the characteristics of the course of the disease.

Side effects

  • from the gastrointestinal tract: diarrhea, irritation of the gastric mucosa;
  • from the immune system: allergic reactions.

Overdose

If the dose is exceeded, the following symptoms are possible: diarrhea, vomiting, irritation of the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract.
