Release form and composition
Dosage forms of Picamilon:
- Solution for intravenous (i / v) and intramuscular (i / m) administration (2 ml in ampoules, 10 ampoules in a cardboard box; 2 ml in ampoules, 5 or 10 ampoules in blisters, 1 or 2 packing in a cardboard box);
- Tablets: flat-cylindrical, beveled, white or white with a cream shade (10 pcs. In blister packs, 3, 6 or 10 packs in a cardboard box; 30 pcs. In polymer bottles, 1 bottle in a cardboard box; 30, 60 or 100 pieces in dark glass jars, 1 jar in a cardboard box).
The active substance of Picamilon is N-nicotinoyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid sodium salt, its content in various dosage forms of the drug:
- 1 ml solution for intravenous and intramuscular administration - 50 or 100 mg;
- 1 tablet - 20 or 50 mg.
Auxiliary components of tablets: potato starch, magnesium hydroxycarbonate hydrate, talc, sucrose, stearic acid or calcium stearate.

Picamilon is a nootropic drug that dilates the blood vessels of the brain. It has a psychostimulating, tranquilizing, antioxidant, antiplatelet effect, and also normalizes the metabolism of brain tissue and affects cerebral circulation (improves microcirculation, increases the linear and volumetric velocity of cerebral blood flow, inhibits platelet aggregation, reduces vascular resistance).
With the course of taking Picamilon, the following effects are observed:
- improvement of blood circulation in the vessels of the optic nerve and retina;
- decrease in the severity of headache;
- normalization of sleep;
- improved memory;
- increasing physical and mental performance;
- disappearance or decrease in the severity of feelings of tension, anxiety, fear;

Pharmacokinetics

Indications for use
- Asthenic conditions as a consequence of neuropsychic diseases;

- Neuroinfection, traumatic brain injury (as one of the components of complex therapy);
- Conditions accompanied by fear, increased irritability, anxiety and / or emotional lability;

- Senile psychosis, as well as asthenia, vegetative-vascular dystonia, depression or other depressive disorders in elderly patients;
- Treatment of chronic alcoholism (the purpose of using Picamilon is to reduce alcoholic encephalopathy, asthenoneurotic, asthenic, pre-relapse and postpsychotic conditions);
- Relief of acute alcohol intoxication (as part of combination therapy);
- Improving the tolerance of physical and / or mental stress (people in extreme or stressful conditions, as well as athletes);

Contraindications

Instructions for the use of Picamilon: method and dosage
Solution for i / v and i / m administration
Picamilon in these dosage forms is administered intramuscularly or intravenously (drip or slow jet).
Standard drug use regimens:
- Asthenic conditions: 20-40 mg per day i.m. 1-month course (at the same time appoint Picamilon tablets);
- Chronic disorders of cerebral circulation: 100-200 mg 1 or 2 times a day. Based on the patient's condition, the doctor uses one of the following schemes: first injects the drug intravenously for 10 days, then intramuscularly; or throughout the entire course in the morning - i / v drip, in the evening - i / m. The duration of treatment is from 15 to 30 days;
- Relief of acute uncomplicated intoxication with ethanol (as part of combination therapy): at the beginning of treatment - in a saturating dose of 5 mg / kg, then in a maintenance dose of 1.56 mg / kg / hour in 2.5 liters of infusion solution for 4 hours, frequency of application - 2 times a day (morning and evening).

Picamilon in tablet form should be taken orally, regardless of food intake (since it does not affect its effectiveness).
Standard drug use regimens:
- Restoration of working capacity and increasing the body's resistance to stress: 60-80 mg per day for 1-1.5 months. It is recommended for athletes to take Picamilon during the training period (2 weeks);
- Depressive states in elderly patients: depending on the clinical situation, 40-200 mg per day (optimally, 60-120 mg) in 2-3 doses for a course of 1.5-3 months;
- Asthenia, psychosis: 40-80 mg per day for 1-1.5 months. In some cases, the daily dose may be increased to 200-300 mg;
- Cerebrovascular diseases: 20-50 mg 2-3 times a day (but not more than 150 mg per day) in a 1-2-month course. After 5-6 months, a second course is prescribed;
- Alcoholism: during the period of abstinence - 100-150 mg per day for a 6-7-day course, with persistent disorders outside of abstinence - 40-60 mg per day for 4-5 weeks.

- From the side of the central nervous system: vertigo, irritability, anxiety, agitation, headache;
- Others: nausea.
Overdose
