Release form and composition
Gramicidin C is available in the following dosage forms:
- Lozenges: flat-cylindrical with a bevel, white with a yellowish tinge or white, on one side of the risk, on the other - the marking "R", or without it (20 pcs. In polymer cans, 1 can in a cardboard box; 10 pcs. in blisters, 2 packages in a cardboard box);
- Concentrate for the preparation of a solution for local and external use of alcohol 2%: a solution from yellow to light yellow (5 or 10 ml in vials, 1 vial in a cardboard box).
The composition of 1 tablet includes:
- Active substance: gramicidin C - 1.5 mg;
- Auxiliary components: milk sugar (lactose) - 441.69 mg; calcium stearate - 6 mg; food flavor - 1.98 mg; sugar (sucrose) - 148.2 mg; sodium saccharinate (soluble saccharin) - 0.63 mg.

Indications for use
Gramicidin C in the form of cheek pills is used in the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the throat and oral cavity, including pharyngitis, acute tonsillitis (angina), gingivitis, periodontal disease, stomatitis.
The drug in the form of a concentrate for the preparation of a solution for external and local use is used in the treatment of the following diseases:
- Fat and water solution: burns, bedsores, purulent wounds, ulcers, osteomyelitis, empyema, joint injury, carbuncle, boil, phlegmon (in the form of washes, tampons and irrigation of dressings);
- Alcohol solution: pyoderma;
- Aqueous solution: infectious and inflammatory diseases of the mouth and throat, including periodontal disease, sore throat, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, periodontitis, stomatitis, gingivitis, glossitis, etc. Also, an aqueous solution is used in the extraction and treatment of teeth (as an auxiliary drug).
As part of a combination therapy, Gramicidin C is prescribed for the treatment of blepharitis, infected eczema of the eyelids, meibomite (barley).
Contraindications
- Lactation period;
- Hypersensitivity to drug components.
For pregnant women, the drug should be used with caution.
Tablets for resorption are contraindicated for children under 4 years of age, for children 4-12 years old, the drug should be taken with caution.

Method of administration and dosage
Gramicidin C in the form of lozenges should be used sublingually (slowly dissolving in the mouth, without chewing), after meals. For 1-2 hours after using the drug, you must refrain from taking drinks and food.
The drug is taken 4 times a day. A single dose is determined by age:
- Children 4-6 years old - 1 tablet;
- Children 6-12 years old - 1-2 tablets (no more than 7 tablets per day);
- Children from 12 years old and adults - 2 tablets (within 20-30 minutes one after the other).
The duration of the therapeutic course is 5-6 days. According to the doctor's prescription, the drug can be used for a longer period.
The solution of Gramicidin C prepared from the concentrate is applied externally and locally.
To prepare one rinse, the concentrate should be diluted in 100 ml of drinking water. A single dose of the drug for adults is 10 ml, for children - 5 ml. The procedures should be carried out 2-3 times a day.
To prepare an aqueous solution, the concentrate must be diluted 100-200 times. To do this, add 500-1000 ml of water to the contents of a 5 ml bottle, 10 ml - 1000-2000 ml of water (ordinary drinking or sterile distilled).
The solution should be applied by irrigation or using well-soaked napkins, over which a sterile gauze napkin is applied, and then fixed with a gauze bandage.
To dilute the concentrate in order to obtain a fat solution, you can use castor oil, lanolin or fish oil in a ratio of 125-150 ml of any of these agents for 5 ml of concentrate, 250-300 ml for 10 ml of concentrate. The resulting fat solution of Gramicidin C is applied using soaked napkins, a sterile gauze napkin is placed on top, and then fixed with a gauze bandage.
To prepare an alcoholic solution, the concentrate must be diluted with 70% ethanol 100 times (5: 500 or 10: 1000). The drug is used in the treatment of pyoderma, lubricating the skin 2-3 times a day.

In some cases, when using Gramicidin C, the development of allergic reactions and contact dermatitis is possible.
