Fervex is a combined drug used in the treatment of acute respiratory diseases as symptomatic therapy.
pharmachologic effect
Due to the active ingredients included in Fervex, the drug is effective for reducing symptoms in acute respiratory diseases.
Paracetamol, affecting the center of thermoregulation, has antipyretic and analgesic effects, eliminating headaches and reducing fever.
Ascorbic acid, as an active component of Fervex, stimulates the immune system, helping to increase the body's resistance, and also participates in the regulation of carbohydrate metabolism and tissue regeneration processes.
Pheniramine, a histamine H1 receptor blocker, reduces nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, lacrimation, sneezing, eye redness and itching.
Fervex release form
Fervex is produced in the form of a powder for preparing a solution in sachets with lemon (light beige) and raspberry (light pink) flavor, which includes:
- 25 mg pheniramine maleate;
- 500 mg paracetamol;
- 200 mg of ascorbic acid.
Fervex for children (banana flavor) contains:
- 10 mg pheniramine maleate;
- 280 mg paracetamol;
- 100 mg of ascorbic acid.
Fervex analogs are the following drugs:

Indications for the use of Fervex
According to the instructions, Fervex is indicated for use when:
- ARVI (as symptomatic therapy);
- Rhinopharyngitis.
Contraindications
According to the instructions, Fervex is contraindicated for use with:
- Erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract (especially in the acute phase);
- Portal hypertension;
- Renal failure;
- Deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase;
- Chronic alcoholism;
- Hypersensitivity to Fervex components.
In addition, Fervex should not be taken before the age of fifteen, in the first and third trimesters of pregnancy and during lactation. Fervex for children (with a reduced content of active ingredients) can be used in pediatrics from the age of six.
According to the instructions, Fervex should be taken with caution in the elderly, as well as when:
- Hyperplasia of the prostate gland;
- Closed-angle glaucoma;
- Viral and alcoholic hepatitis;
- Liver failure;
- Congenital hyperbilirubinemia (Dubin-Johnson, Gilbert and Rotor syndromes).
Method of using Fervex
Before use, the contents of the Fervex sachet must be dissolved in a glass of warm water, after which the resulting solution should be drunk immediately.
According to the testimony of Fervex, one sachet should be taken up to three times a day with an interval of at least four hours. The most effective is the use of Fervex between meals.
For elderly people, as well as with the development of the disease against the background of impaired liver or kidney function, the interval between taking Fervex solution should be at least 8 hours.
Children from six to fifteen years old can only take Fervex for children in a single dosage of 1 sachet. Frequency of reception (with an interval of at least 4 hours):
- 6-10 years old - twice a day;
- 10-12 years old - three times a day;
- 2-15 years old - up to four times a day.
In cases of taking Fervex without a medical prescription, the following duration of taking the drug should be observed:
- Up to five days - as an analgesic;
- Up to three days - as an antipyretic agent.
In case of an overdose, the most significant side effects develop due to paracetamol, which is part of Fervex. In these cases, there may be observed:
- Decreased appetite;
- Pallor of the skin;
- Vomiting;
- Nausea;
- Hepatonecrosis, the severity of which depends on the degree of overdose received.
Similar symptoms, as a rule, develop when taking paracetamol in an amount of more than 10 g, and liver damage develops over six days.
Fervex drug interactions
The risk of developing side effects such as dry mouth, urinary retention and constipation increases with the simultaneous use of Fervex with antidepressants, antiparkinsonian and antipsychotic drugs.
The risk of developing glaucoma increases while taking Fervex with glucocorticoids.
The development of severe intoxication with a slight overdose of Fervex is facilitated by:
- Ethanol;
- Phenytoin;
- Rifampicin;
- Barbiturates;
- Tricyclic antidepressants;
- Phenylbutazone.
Side effects
According to reviews, Fervex is well tolerated (when taken in recommended doses).
In some cases, Fervex, according to reviews, can cause the following violations:
- Nausea and pain in the epigastric region, much less often - dry mouth (digestive system);
- Skin rash, hives, itching, Quincke's edema (allergic reactions);
- Thrombocytopenia, anemia and methemoglobinemia (hematopoietic system);
- Retention of urine (urinary system).
