Advantan is an anti-inflammatory agent for the local treatment of skin diseases: eczema, dermatitis, allergic rashes.

The drug has a local effect on the affected area of the skin, eliminates the symptoms of inflammation, signs of allergies, and prevents pathological thickening of the epidermis.

Release form and composition

The product is available in several forms for external use:

• Fatty ointment Advantan (with castor oil) 0.1% in a tube of 5 g and 15 g;
• Ointment Advantan 0.1% in a tube of 15 g;
• Advantan cream 0.1% in a tube of 5 g and 15 g;
• Emulsion Advantan 0.1% in a tube of 10 g, 20 g and 50 g.

The main active ingredient of the drug is methylprednisolone aceponate.

Indications for use

In accordance with the instructions, Advantan in the form of an ointment, oily ointment and cream is used to treat dermatitis of various origins (atopic, allergic, contact, neurodermatitis) and eczema (degenerative, dry, eczema in children).

The drug relieves redness, thickening of the skin and its swelling, eliminates the feeling of itching and burning.

Fatty ointment Advantan is used for dry, and ointment without castor oil - for normal skin. For weeping lesions, water-based Advantan cream is best for treatment.

According to the instructions, Advantan in the form of an emulsion can be used for the same diseases as the ointment, but it is best suited for the treatment of contact dermatitis and sunburn.

Contraindications

In accordance with the instructions, Advantan has the following contraindications for use:

• Intolerance to any component of the drug;
• Viral infections;
• Lupus;
• Syphilis.

Do not apply Advantan to large areas of skin for more than 3 months.

Pregnant women can use the drug, but with caution and under the supervision of the attending physician.

Method of administration and dosage

Any form of the drug is applied in a thin layer to the affected area of the skin, with gentle movements, without rubbing, once a day for adults and children. The course of treatment for adult patients is 3 months, the use of Advantan for the treatment of children should not last more than 1 month, in the form of an emulsion - 2 weeks. Advantan for children is approved for use starting from 4 months of age.

Side effects

Among the side effects of the drug, most often patients note itching, redness and burning of the skin, rashes in the form of small bubbles (vesicles) at the site of application of Advantan.

Sometimes the skin may become thinner, acne and stretch marks may appear in the form of thin purple stripes (stretch marks).

Very rarely, inflammation of the hair follicles or hypertrichosis (excessive hair growth), dermatitis of the area around the mouth is possible.

Do not apply Advantan on the face with rosacea or perioral dermatitis, as well as on mucous membranes.
