In oriental medicine, it is believed that a person is young and healthy as much as his joints are young and healthy. This is indeed a good marker of health status, since one of the first signs of aging is precisely the deterioration in the functioning of the articular apparatus. Therefore, for anyone interested in maintaining youth, healthy joints are much more important than a wrinkle-free face. But are there people who are not interested in youth and health?

Tips on how to maintain healthy joints are two-fold: nutrition and exercise. Proper nutrition provides the supply of substances necessary for the full functioning of the joint, all of its components. This mainly applies to calcium, since this element is not produced in the body and must be supplied from the outside in sufficient quantities. To maintain health, it is necessary to consume the right amount of calcium-containing foods: milk, cottage cheese, hard cheese, sour cream, green leafy vegetables, broccoli.

In some cases, when there are degenerative disorders in the joints, it is recommended to take drugs containing chondroitin sulfate. It is a substance that promotes calcium retention in bone and cartilage tissue, and also has anti-inflammatory activity. Chondroitin sulfate is isolated from the cartilage tissue of animals and fish. You can get it from the dishes familiar in our diet, such as jellied meat, for example, or brawn - that is, those that contain a concentrated decoction of cartilage tissue. Of course, in order to cure joint disease, a portion of such a dish will not be enough, and the abuse of such products will damage the digestive system, but in order to maintain healthy joints, periodic inclusion of such dishes in the diet is desirable.

And finally, the most important thing is movement. Physical activity is vital for healthy joints. The fact is that the articular, or synovial fluid is produced and maintained in a liquid state during movement. The cartilage-covered surfaces of the joint are nourished only from this substance, since they do not contain blood vessels. And therefore, in the absence of movement, the joint atrophies, collapses. With insufficient movement, this process also occurs, only more slowly. A balanced load on the articular apparatus will help to develop a fitness trainer or a specialist in physiotherapy exercises. But if you have neither time for sports, nor desire, and the services of a physiotherapy specialist are not yet required, ordinary walking is sufficient. A daily hour of walking in the fresh air will be beneficial not only for healthy joints, but also for the body as a whole.
