Ultrasonic teeth cleaning
Why do you need ultrasonic teeth cleaning and what does it give? This is a method that allows you to painlessly and effectively remove hard dental deposits, the so-called tartar. Tartar is a calcified soft dental deposit, which in the language of dentists means fossilized plaque. Ordinary plaque is soft and we can easily brush it off with a toothbrush and toothpaste. However, if this is not done regularly, or if it is not done carefully enough, then over time, soft deposits accumulate in places where the toothbrush does not disturb them. Usually these are the interdental spaces and the gum part of the teeth of the lower jaw from the lingual side.
Saliva contains calcium salts, which, getting into soft dental plaque, eventually precipitate, which is distinguished by its density and hardness. This is how soft dental plaque turns into a hard stone, tightly welded to the enamel of the tooth. It is completely impossible to clean tartar with a brush; only a doctor can do this. Ultrasonic teeth cleaning is the most convenient way to remove hard dental plaque. This method allows you to "pick out" them quickly and painlessly. It is possible that there may be not very pleasant sensations due to the effect of ultrasound on soft tissues, but as a rule, before ultrasonic cleaning of teeth, light anesthesia is carried out by spraying an anesthetic in the form of a spray in the mouth. This is quite enough so that nothing bothers the patient during the procedure.
Why is it necessary to periodically carry out ultrasonic cleaning of teeth? The fact is that tartar leads to diseases of the tissues surrounding the tooth - periodontitis and periodontal disease. These are formidable dental diseases, in which not the teeth themselves are destroyed, but the tissues that hold them in the jaw - the ligamentous apparatus of the tooth and the interdental partitions. The insidiousness of hard dental deposits is that they may not be visible to you at all, and due to the fact that they grow gradually, as a rule, they are not felt. But after removing tartar there is always a feeling that the teeth have "lost weight".
How often should tartar be removed? Your dentist will answer this question best of all, as the rate of formation of hard dental plaque is individual. Some people only need to carry out ultrasonic cleaning of their teeth once a year, while others need it more often. One thing is certain - this easy procedure, included in the oral care program, can save you in the future from many problems with the loss of entire groups of teeth and the subsequent most complicated and expensive prosthetics.
