Cholagol is a complex drug with antispasmodic and choleretic effects.

Composition and form of release

Cholagol is released in the form of drops for oral administration, containing the following active ingredients: peppermint essential oil, magnesium salicylate, dyes of turmeric root, essential eucalyptus oil, frangulomodin.

Additional components: olive oil, menthol, ethanol 95%.

In vials of 10 ml.

Cholagol's analogs are the following drugs: Allochol, Artichoke Extract, Gepabel, Hepacinar, Polyphytol, Flamin, Choledius, Holosas, Cinacholin.

Pharmacological action of Cholagol

According to the instructions, Holagol has a laxative, antispasmodic and choleretic effect.

Indications for use of Holagol

According to the instructions, Holagol is indicated for:

chronic cholangitis and cholecystitis (in remission);
gallstone disease;
chronic liver diseases in case of dyspeptic symptoms;
in case of dyspeptic symptoms after surgery on the biliary tract.

Contraindications

severe renal dysfunction;
hypersensitivity to components;
the period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
acute inflammatory processes in the biliary tract and liver;
age up to twelve years.

According to reviews, Holagol should be prescribed with caution in case of brain injury, epilepsy and alcoholism.

Dosing and Administration of Holagol

The drug and analogues of Holagol are taken orally. The dosage is usually about 5-10 drops on a lump of sugar half an hour before meals three times a day. The interval between doses of the drug should not be less than five hours.

In the case of onset biliary colic, an increase in dosage up to 20 drops at a time is allowed.

The maximum daily dosage is 30 drops.

To avoid or minimize dyspeptic symptoms, it is allowed to take the drug during or after a meal.

The course of taking the drug is 6 weeks.

Side effects of Holagol

According to reviews, Holagol is mostly well tolerated by patients. Sometimes side effects are possible in the form of heartburn, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and allergic reactions.

Overdose

Storage conditions

The drug is stored in a cool place for no longer than three years.
