Cefekon N is a combined preparation with analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. Its effect is due to the properties of active substances:

• salicylamide and naproxen: non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), the mechanism of action of which is explained by their ability to inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins and affect the center of thermoregulation in the hypothalamus;
• caffeine: has an analeptic, psychostimulant and antispasmodic effect on smooth muscles.

Indications for use

• analgesia of mild and moderate pain syndrome: toothache and headache, migraine, sciatica, myalgia, lumbago, neuralgia, dysmenorrhea, osteoarthritis, osteochondrosis, ankylosing spondylitis and other degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the musculoskeletal system;
• reduction of elevated body temperature in case of colds, inflammatory and infectious diseases.

Cefekon N, instructions for use: method and dosage

Suppositories Cefekon N are intended only for rectal use by introducing deep into the rectum after natural bowel movement or a cleansing enema (you must first release the suppository from the packaging). The patient should remain in a horizontal position for 30–40 minutes.

Patients are prescribed 1 suppository 1 to 3 times a day.

Unless the doctor has prescribed otherwise, Tsefekon N suppositories should be used as an anesthetic drug for no more than 5 days in a row, as an antipyretic agent - no more than 3 days.

Side effects

Naproxen increases the toxicity of sulfonamides, phenytoin and methotrexate. Reduces the antihypertensive effect of beta-blockers. May reduce the diuretic effect of furosemide.

Caffeine enhances the absorption and action of cardiac glycosides, increases their toxicity. With the simultaneous use of beta-blockers, mutual suppression of therapeutic effects may be noted. In the case of joint administration of adrenergic bronchodilator drugs, additional stimulation of the central nervous system and the development of other additive toxic effects are possible.
