Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Polyfan is a natural enterosorbent containing lignin polymer - a product of hydrolysis of wood components. The lignin polymer contains structural elements derived from hydrocellulose and phenylpropane.
Getting into the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract, the powder binds and removes food allergens, alcohol, heavy metal salts, poisons, drugs, bacterial toxins and pathogenic bacteria from the body. Also, Polyfan absorbs excess of certain metabolic products, including urea, cholesterol, bilirubin and metabolites, which are the source of endogenous toxicosis.
Pharmacokinetics
Hydrolytic lignin is non-toxic, not absorbed, and is completely excreted from the intestine within 24 hours.
Indications for use
- exogenous and endogenous toxicosis of various origins (as a detoxifying drug);
- acute poisoning with alcohol, heavy metal salts, alkaloids, drugs and other poisons (for the purpose of providing first aid);
- purulent-inflammatory pathologies, accompanied by intoxication, dyspepsia, dysbiosis, dysentery, salmonellosis, foodborne diseases (as part of complex treatment);
- hyperbilirubinemia and hyperazotemia (hepatic and renal failure);
- food and drug allergies (for therapy);
- the presence of xenobiotics in the body (for their excretion).
Contraindications
An absolute contraindication to prescribing a drug is an individual intolerance to the components that make up its composition.
Relative contraindications in which the use of Polifan should be carried out under medical supervision: gastritis, intestinal atony, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer in the acute stage.
