Ultrix is an influenza vaccine.
Release form and composition

The composition of 1 dose includes hemagglutinin and neuraminidase of the following viral strains:
- A (H1N1) - 15 μg HA;
- A (H3N2) - 15 μg HA;
- B - 15 μg HA.
The antigenic composition of the vaccine is adjusted annually in accordance with WHO recommendations and the epidemic situation.
Pharmacological properties
Ultrix is an inactivated split influenza vaccine and is a mixture of highly purified protective surface and internal antigens of influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) and B viruses.
Antibodies are produced within 8-12 days. Immunity lasts up to 1 year.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Ultrix is indicated for the specific prevention of influenza in adults and children over 6 years old, especially those groups of patients who have a high risk of developing complications, patients who, by occupation, often communicate with people and are at risk of infection, as well as patients suffering from chronic somatic diseases, often suffering from acute respiratory diseases (ARI).
Contraindications
- acute febrile condition;
- exacerbation of a chronic disease;
- allergy to chicken protein or vaccine components;
- a history of allergic reactions to influenza vaccinations;
- pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding.
In the case of acute intestinal diseases and mild acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), vaccination is recommended after the temperature has returned to normal.
Instructions for the use of Ultrix: method and dosage
The Ultrix vaccine is injected only IM, once, one dose (0.5 ml), into the deltoid muscle.
Before use, the solution is kept to room temperature and shaken thoroughly. Vaccination is carried out in strict compliance with the rules of asepsis and antiseptics. Remains of the drug in the opened ampoule must be destroyed.
In case of violation of the integrity of the ampoule, syringe or labeling, when the color and transparency of the solution changes, the storage rules are violated, the expiration date is not suitable for use.
Before vaccination, a medical specialist should examine the patient with a mandatory thermometry. Do not vaccinate at body temperatures above 37 ° C.
Side effects
After vaccination, local and general reactions can be observed, such as:
- soreness, swelling, and redness at the injection site;
- malaise, headache, weakness, low-grade fever (these reactions usually go away on their own after 1-3 days);
- allergic reactions.
Overdose
Overdose cases of Ultrix have not been described.

Intravenous administration of the drug is not allowed.
In the office where the procedure is performed, anti-shock therapy means must be available. The patient should be monitored for 30 minutes after vaccination.

There is no information about the effect of the Ultrix vaccine on the ability to drive vehicles and other complex mechanisms that require the speed of psychomotor reactions.
Drug interactions
It is allowed to use Ultrix with other inactivated vaccines, while the contraindications for each of them should be taken into account. Vaccines are administered to different parts of the body with different syringes.
In patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy, vaccination may be less effective.
