Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

The active ingredient of the drug, troxerutin, is a flavonoid (a derivative of rutin). Shows P-vitamin activity. Reduces capillary permeability and fragility. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous, angioprotective and venotonic effects.

The pharmacological property of troxerutin is due to the ability of its bioflavonoids to participate in redox processes and suppress hyaluronidase. By inhibiting hyaluronidase, the drug stabilizes the hyaluronic acid of the cell membranes and reduces their permeability.

Troxerutin has antioxidant properties, thereby preventing the oxidation of lipids, ascorbic acid and adrenaline. Also, the drug reduces fragility and reduces capillary permeability. When exposed to negative factors, it prevents damage to the basement membrane of endothelial cells.

Troxerutin prevents platelets from adhering to the vascular wall, reducing the likelihood of developing exudative inflammation. As a result of drug treatment, trophism in the tissues improves, swelling decreases, and the feeling of heaviness in the legs disappears.

Pharmacokinetics

When taken internally and externally, troxerutin is well absorbed.

From the gel, the active substance penetrates into the blood vessels of the subcutaneous tissue.

After oral administration, the maximum plasma concentration (C max) is reached within 2-8 hours. The second peak C max is observed approximately 3 hours after taking the capsule. It is excreted from the body: about 70% - with bile, the rest - with urine.

When applied topically, troxerutin does not have a systemic effect, since it practically does not penetrate into the general bloodstream.

Indications for use

For both dosage forms:

  • phlebeurysm;
  • chronic venous insufficiency;
  • superficial thrombophlebitis;
  • post-traumatic edema of soft tissues, hematomas;
  • post-thrombotic syndrome.

Additional indications for different dosage forms of Troxerutin Vramed:

  • capsules: varicose dermatitis, varicose ulcers, hemorrhoids (to relieve symptoms), complex therapy for diabetic retinopathy;
  • gel for external use: periphlebitis, phlebothrombosis.
