Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Solcoderm is a local treatment for benign superficial skin lesions.
The action on the affected area of the skin, with its direct contact with the complex of components of Solcoderm, provides a natural intravital fixation of the pathologically altered tissue with its subsequent mummification.
The effect of the drug is directly expressed in discoloration of the areas in contact with it until the appearance of a shade characteristic of dying skin from pale gray to yellowish. Tissues devitalized after exposure to Solcoderm are dehydrated and, upon further mummification, acquire a dark brown color. The resulting mummified scab peels off spontaneously, after several days or weeks.
Rapid healing of the wound surface occurs, and complications such as secondary infection or the formation of scar tissue are extremely rare.
Pharmacokinetics
External use of Solcoderm does not imply transdermal, clinically significant systemic absorption of its active components.
Indications for use
Solkoderm is used only externally for the treatment of the following benign skin pathologies:
- genital warts (Condylomata acuminata);
- common warts (Verruca vulgaris);
- plantar warts (Verruca plantaris);
- nevus non-cellular, tested for benignity (Naevus naevo-cellularis).
Contraindications
- malignant skin formations prone to metastasis (malignant melanoma);
- a pronounced tendency to form scar tissue.
Do not use the solution to remove keloid scars and freckles.
In children over 5 years old, Solcoseryl is used without restrictions, in compliance with the current recommendations.
During pregnancy and lactation, drug therapy is prescribed only if the potential benefit to the mother exceeds the possible risk to the fetus.
Solkoderm, instructions for use: method and dosage
Solkoderm solution is used only externally. The procedure should be performed by a doctor or medical personnel under the supervision of a doctor.
Before applying the solution, the affected skin area is treated with ether or ethyl alcohol.
Solcoderm is applied directly to the pathologically altered tissues with a special plastic applicator with blunt and sharp ends attached to the ampoule with the solution in each package. It is recommended to apply the drug with a sharp edge to the affected areas of a small area; the blunt end treats extensive lesions.
The glass capillary supplied with the ampoule is used as an alternative method for applying the solution, mainly for combined skin lesions on an area of 2–3 cm 2. To fill, it should be immersed in the solution for a few minutes. During the application process, special care is required: do not apply the solution in too large a volume and avoid damaging the deep layers of the skin. The solution must be applied in an amount that is completely absorbed by the tissue of the affected area.
Solkoderm is applied with caution to the affected area of the skin with a glass capillary or a plastic applicator, after which the solution is distributed evenly over the surface of pathologically altered tissues with light pressure for more complete penetration. After 3-5 minutes, it is necessary to carefully observe the changes in the treated area: skin discoloration with the appearance of a specific shade - yellowish or pale gray. The procedure is repeated until the above changes in skin color are formed.
To treat keratinized warts, you must first carefully remove the upper layer of keratinization.
It is allowed to treat affected skin areas with a diameter of ≥10 mm with Solkoderm solution only if it is established that the skin is pathologically deformed only in the upper layer.
If skin lesions are represented by multiple lesions, therapy should be carried out in several stages, separated by time intervals between sessions of approximately 1 month. During each procedure, it is allowed to process up to 2-3 lesions, with a total area of up to 2-3 cm 2.
When applying the solution, the formation of moderate transient erythema and a white ischemic ring around the site of application on healthy skin is possible. Such phenomena are permissible and do not require special treatment. If the therapy is accompanied by pain, it should be interrupted immediately. A few days after the treatment, the skin area darkens, acquiring a dark brown tint, and dries out with the formation of a scab. When the pathologically altered tissue is not sufficiently mummified, a second procedure is recommended after a few days.
The fixation and mummification of the treated pathologically altered tissues is facilitated by wiping the areas with a tampon moistened with 70% alcohol solution, 2-3 times a day (especially after water procedures).
Side effects
Solcoderm therapy is often associated with a short-term burning sensation at the site of application, which usually lasts up to several minutes. In case of severe local irritation in the adjacent skin areas and severe itching, it is recommended to use a cream with glucocorticosteroids, or an anesthetic ointment.
Improper use or overdose can damage deep tissue. The resulting ulcers are treated like normal wounds.
Overdose
Symptoms of an overdose of Solcoderm when used in too high doses are acid burns and damage to the deep layers of the skin.
Skin ulcerations resulting from overdose are treated like normal wounds.
special instructions
Solkoderm solution is chemically unstable, therefore, after opening the ampoule and carrying out the procedure, it is not subject to further storage. Each time you need to open a new ampoule.
Before opening the ampoule, it should be shaken to knock down the solution that has got into the upper part. Then break the neck of the ampoule according to the applied risk. The opened ampoule should be kept strictly vertically, secured in a specially designated nest of the contour packaging.
Therapy of affected skin areas located near the mucous membranes, including the eye area, is carried out with special precautions.
The scab must not be removed using mechanical devices or scraping, it must fall off spontaneously, otherwise the tissue healing processes may be disrupted, as a result of which scarring may occur.
Achievement of complete healing of the areas treated with Solkoderm is achieved in 2-4 months from the application of the drug. During this time, it is necessary to avoid contact with the skin of ultraviolet radiation and direct sunlight.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Due to the lack of research data to study the effect of Solcoderm on pregnant and lactating women, the solution can be used during these periods, provided that the potential benefits to the mother exceed the possible risks to the fetus or child.
In the course of experimental studies on animals, the absence of a risk factor for fetal development was revealed.
Pediatric use
For the treatment of children over the age of 5 years, Solcoseryl is used according to indications.
Drug interactions
The drug interaction of Solcoderm with other medicinal substances / preparations for topical use has not been established.
Analogs
Solcoderm analogues are Duofilm, Mardil Selenium, Mardil Zinc, Mardil Zinc Maxi etc.
Terms and conditions of storage
Store at temperatures up to 25 ° C. Keep out of the reach of children.
Shelf life is 2 years.
Terms of dispensing from pharmacies
