Release form and composition
The drug is available in the form of a sterile solution (in vials of 3, 5, 10, 15 ml, in a cardboard box of 1 bottle).
Solution composition:
- boric acid - 1%;
- propylene glycol - 0.3%;
- polyethylene glycol 400 - 0.4%;
- magnesium chloride - 0.0064%;
- hydroxypropyl guar - 0.17-0.20%;
- zinc chloride - 0.00015%;
- calcium chloride - 0.0053%;
- polydronium chloride - 0.001%;
- sodium chloride - 0.1%;
- potassium chloride - 0.13%;
- sodium hydroxide and / or hydrochloric acid (until the desired pH is reached);
- purified water.

The active ingredients of Systane help to get rid of dry and irritated eyes. This effect is achieved due to the specific consistency of the solution, which does not possess chemical activity and does not exert a mechanical effect on the mucous membrane of the organ of vision. The minimum thickness of the polymer film prevents premature drying and irritation of the inner surfaces of the eye.
The solution has an effective effect throughout the day. A decrease in the therapeutic effect is possible due to the physiological washout of the drug with lacrimal fluid.
Indications for use
Systane is used to moisturize, provide long-term eye comfort and temporarily relieve dry eye symptoms (irritation, dryness, feeling of sand or a foreign body in the eye, burning sensation) caused by wind, cosmetics, dust, dry heat (sauna or radiator), air conditioner, smoke, flickering of a working computer monitor or TV.
Contraindications
- children and adolescents up to 18 years of age (since there is no data on the safety and effectiveness of an ophthalmic agent in children);
- hypersensitivity to the individual components of the drug.
Instructions for the use of Systain: method and dosage
The ophthalmic agent can be used to moisturize the eyes and increase their comfort throughout the day, as often as needed.
The solution is instilled in 1-2 drops into each eye, after instillation, you should blink.
Systane can also be used to moisturize the cornea before and after wearing contact lenses.
During instillation, it is forbidden to touch the pipette tip of the bottle, otherwise the solution may become contaminated.
Side effects
There are practically no side effects when using Systain. In some cases, there are changes in the production and / or release of lacrimal fluid with independent uncontrolled use of the solution for a long period of time. Allergic reactions are extremely rare during treatment.
