Octenisept is a combined antiseptic agent for local and external use.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - a solution for local and external use (50 ml in polyethylene bottles with a mechanical spray gun, 250, 450 or 1000 ml in polyethylene bottles, in cardboard boxes 1 bottle each).
Active ingredients in 100 ml of solution:
- Phenoxyethanol - 2 g;
- Octenidine dihydrochloride - 0.1 g
Excipients: sodium chloride, sodium D-gluconate, cocamidopropyl betaine, purified water, glycerol 85%.
Pharmacological properties
The drug is active against gram-positive / gram-negative bacteria, lipophilic viruses, in particular, against the hepatitis B virus and the Herpes simplex virus, as well as against dermatophytes and yeast-like fungi.
Indications for use
- Treatment of burn and wound surfaces;
- Treatment of mucous membranes and skin before carrying out diagnostic and surgical measures in dentistry, otorhinolaryngology, dermatovenerology, proctology, pediatrics, surgery, traumatology, obstetric and gynecological practice;
- Prevention of mycoses of the feet and interdigital folds.
Contraindications
According to the instructions, Octenisept is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to its constituent components.
Instructions for the use of Octenisept: method and dosage
Spray Octenisept is used topically and externally.
The treatment should be carried out alternately with 2 tampons, abundantly moistened with the preparation, completely treating the affected surface. On easily accessible areas, it is possible to apply the product by spraying. The duration of the procedure is 1-2 minutes.
After complete drying of the preparation (after 1-2 minutes), bandages are applied if necessary.
If there is pus and / or other biosubstrates on the affected areas, they should be cleaned before processing.
For the prevention of fungal diseases on the legs, it is necessary to treat the skin of the feet and interdigital folds with the preparation 2 times a day (morning and evening) for 14 days.
For rinsing the mouth, it is recommended to use 20 ml of the solution, repeat rinsing after 20 seconds.
Side effects
The drug is generally well tolerated.
A short-term burning sensation is possible at the site of application.
When gargling (for example, when using Octenisept for the throat), the patient may experience a bitter taste.
