Release form and composition
Dosage form - capsules: gelatinous solid, white; content - fine crystalline hygroscopic powder of white or white-yellowish color (10 or 20 pcs. in polyethylene bottles, each bottle is packed in a cardboard box).
Composition of 1 capsule:
- active substance: human recombinant interferon alpha-2b - 500,000 ME (International units);
- auxiliary components: sodium phosphate monosubstituted 2-water (sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate), sodium phosphate disubstituted 12-water (sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate), cholesterol, sodium chloride, silicon dioxide colloidal anhydrous, lactose-tokydoferol, alpha C 100 (phosphatidylcholine);
- composition of the capsule body and lid: gelatin, titanium dioxide (E 171).
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Reaferon-Lipint is a drug that has antiviral and immunomodulatory effects. Its active substance - human recombinant interferon alpha-2b - is synthesized by bacterial cells of the Escherichia coli strain SG-20050 / pIF16, in the genetic apparatus of which the human interferon alpha-2b gene is inserted. It is a protein that contains 165 amino acids and is identical to human leukocyte interferon alpha-2b in properties and characteristics.
The antiviral effect of the drug is manifested by the active inclusion of interferon alpha-2b in the metabolic processes of cells during the reproduction of the virus. Interacting on the cell surface with specific receptors, interferon initiates a number of intracellular changes, including the synthesis of specific cytokines and enzymes (protein kinases, 2-5-adenylate synthetases), which inhibit the formation of viral ribonucleic acid and viral protein in the cell.
The immunomodulatory effect of the drug is manifested by an increase in the phagocytic activity of macrophages, an increase in the specific cytotoxic effect of lymphocytes on target cells, a change in the composition (both qualitative and quantitative) of secreted cytokines, a change in the production and secretion of intracellular proteins, as well as a change in the functional activity of immunocompetent cells.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Reaferon-Lipint is used as part of the complex therapy for influenza and other acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI).
Also, the drug is recommended to be taken for the prevention of these diseases during the period of seasonal rise in incidence and epidemics.
Contraindications
- lactase deficiency, lactose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome;
- period of pregnancy and lactation;
- increased sensitivity to any component of the drug.
In addition, Reaferon-Lipint is contraindicated for children under the age of 18.
The drug should be used with caution in severe myelosuppression (a decrease in the content of leukocytes and platelets in the blood), hepatic and renal failure.
Instructions for use Reaferon-Lipint: method and dosage
Capsules must be taken orally half an hour before meals. Patients who have difficulty swallowing are allowed to carefully open the capsule and take its contents with a little drinking water.
For therapeutic purposes, 1 capsule is prescribed 2 times a day for a course of 5 days.
As a preventive measure, it is recommended to take 1 capsule 2 times a week for one month.
Side effects
During the period of using the drug Reaferon-Lipint, some patients experience allergic reactions. It is also possible to develop a flu-like syndrome, manifested by chills, fever, lethargy, headache, loss of appetite, feeling of fatigue, arthralgia, myalgia.
Overdose
Overdose cases have not been reported to date. It is assumed that dose-dependent side effects may increase. Treatment of disorders is symptomatic.

The drug can reduce the activity of cytochromes of the P 450 system and, as a result, affect the metabolism of the following drugs: curantil, diazepam, phenytoin, theophylline, cimetidine, warfarin, propranolol, some cytostatics.
With the simultaneous or previous use of drugs with cardiotoxic, myelotoxic or neurotoxic effects, their effect may be enhanced.
Reaferon-Lipint should not be administered simultaneously with drugs that depress the central nervous system, as well as with immunosuppressive drugs (including oral and parenteral forms of corticosteroids).
During the period of therapy, it is recommended to refrain from drinking alcohol.
