Pharmacodynamics

Ranavexim is an antibacterial drug for external use. Its active substance is sulfonamide (streptocide), it has a wide spectrum of antimicrobial bacteriostatic activity. The mechanism of action of the drug is due to competitive antagonism between sulfanilamide and PABA (Para-aminobenzoic acid), inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase, which causes disruption of the synthesis of dihydrofolic and tetrahydrofolic acid. This leads to disruption of the synthesis of nucleic acids of pathogenic microflora.

The following gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms are sensitive to sulfonamide: Shigella speciales (spp.), Clostridium spp., Actinomyces spp., Chlamydia spp., Escherichia coli, Vibrio cholera, Corynebacterium diphtheriaii, Bacillus gesthersia.

Indications for use

The use of Ranavexim is indicated as part of the complex therapy of purulent-inflammatory processes of soft tissues of various origins, including infected wounds and infected burns of I – II degree.

Contraindications

Absolute:

• diseases of the hematopoietic system, anemia, inhibition of bone marrow hematopoiesis;
• renal and / or hepatic impairment;
• chronic heart failure;
• porphyria;
• thyrotoxicosis;
• azotemia;
• congenital deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase;
• period of pregnancy;
• breast-feeding;
• hypersensitivity to sulfonamides.
