Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Trimebutin acts on the enkephalinergic system of the intestine and regulates its peristalsis. By affecting peripheral δ-, μ- and κ-receptors (including receptors that are located directly on the smooth muscles of the entire gastrointestinal tract), the substance regulates motility without affecting the central nervous system.
Due to the properties of the active component, Neobutin Retard restores the normal physiological activity of the intestinal musculature in various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract associated with impaired motility.
Trimebutin also normalizes visceral sensitivity, thereby providing an analgesic effect in abdominal pain.
Pharmacokinetics
Once in the gastrointestinal tract, trimebutin is rapidly absorbed.
The volume of distribution of the substance is 88 liters. Only 5% of the drug binds to plasma proteins. In small amounts, trimebutin crosses the placental barrier.
The drug is metabolized in the liver. It is excreted mainly in the form of metabolites in the urine.
Indications for use
Neobutin Retard is intended to eliminate digestive disorders (pain, cramps, abdominal discomfort, flatulence, diarrhea or constipation, heartburn, belching, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting) in diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and biliary tract, such as irritable bowel syndrome, cholelithiasis, dysfunction of the biliary tract, postcholecystectomy syndrome, non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease, dysfunction of the sphincter of Oddi.
The use of Neobutin Retard is also advisable for postoperative paralytic intestinal obstruction.
