Lamisil Uno is an antifungal drug for external use.
Release form and composition
Lamisil Uno is produced in the form of a film-forming solution for external use: a viscous, slightly dull, colorless or pale yellow liquid with an ethanol odor (4 g in a laminated tube with a screw cap equipped with a first opening control system, 1 tube in a blister strip made of plastic, 1 package in a cardboard box with a "window").
1 g of solution contains:
- active substance: terbinafine hydrochloride - 11.25 mg (equivalent to 10 mg terbinafine base);
- additional components: medium chain triglycerides, octylacrylamide and acrylic acid copolymer (Dermacryl 79), ethanol 96%, hyprolose.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Terbinafine is an allylamine derivative, a topical antifungal agent. The tool demonstrates a wide range of antifungal activity. When used in low concentrations, the drug exhibits a fungicidal effect against dermatophytes (Trichophyton violaceum, Trichophyton verrucosum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton tonsurans, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis), moldy fungus (mainly Candida fungi) and fungal fungi (mainly Candida fungi) Pityrosporum orbiculare). The activity shown by the drug against yeast fungi, depending on their type, can be fungistatic or fungicidal.
Due to the specific effect of the active substance Lamisil Uno, there is a change in the early stage of sterol biosynthesis in fungi. This, in turn, causes a lack of ergosterol and intracellular accumulation of squalene, leading to the death of the fungal cell.
The action of the drug is carried out by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase, which is located in the membrane of the fungal cell. This enzyme is not associated with the cytochrome P 450 system. The drug has no effect on the metabolism of hormones or other drugs.
Pharmacokinetics
After applying Lamisil Uno to problem areas of the skin, an imperceptible transparent film forms on them, which remains on the skin for 72 hours. The active substance contained in the film enters the stratum corneum of the skin and, 1 hour after the procedure, is found in it in an amount corresponding to 16-18% of the applied dose.
The release process of terbinafine is progressive; after 13 days, the presence of a substance in the stratum corneum is noted in a concentration that exceeds its minimum inhibitory concentration in vitro relative to dermatophytes. Systemic bioavailability is extremely low, with external use, the absorption of the agent is less than 5%. The drug is characterized by a slight systemic effect.
The relapse rate 3 months after the application of the drug does not exceed 12.5%.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Lamisil Uno is recommended for the treatment of mycoses (dermatophytosis) of the feet (foot fungus, Tinea pedis).
Contraindications
The use of the drug is contraindicated in the presence of hypersensitivity to terbinafine or to any other ingredient of the drug.
Use Lamisil Uno with caution in the following conditions / diseases:
- occlusive vascular lesions of the extremities;
- renal and / or hepatic impairment;
- metabolic disease;
- tumors;
- oppression of bone marrow hematopoiesis;
- age up to 15 years;
- alcoholism.
Instructions for the use of Lamisil Uno: method and dosage
Lamisil Uno is intended for external use, the drug is used once.
For adolescents over 15 years of age and adults, the solution should be applied 1 time to both feet, even if the fungal infection is noted only on one of them. This must be done to ensure the destruction of fungi (dermatophytes), which may be located on areas of the foot, where the lesion cannot be visually noticed.
Before applying the drug, you need to wash your feet and hands and dry them thoroughly. First you need to process one foot and then the other. The procedure should be started with a uniform application of a thin layer of solution to the areas between the toes and then around along their entire surface, then the drug is applied to the sole and lateral parts of the foot to a height of about 1.5 cm. To treat one foot, a sufficient amount of solution is used, as the rule is ½ tube.
Likewise, it is recommended to apply the preparation to the other foot, even if the skin on its surface looks healthy. After completing the procedure, dry the solution for 1–2 minutes until a film forms and then wash your hands.
Lamisil Uno does not need to be rubbed into the skin. Do not reapply the solution to the surface treated with it.
Side effects
Against the background of drug therapy, side effects are very rare, usually short-term and mild, these include:
- systemic reactions: extremely rarely - allergic reactions in the form of redness, rash, urticaria, bullous dermatitis;
- local reactions: rarely - irritation, dryness, burning sensation on the skin area treated with the solution.
Overdose
Overdose cases have not been recorded. Due to the fact that the drug is used externally and is produced in a volume intended for a single use, an overdose is unlikely.
In case of accidental oral administration of the drug, symptoms of an overdose may be: dizziness, epigastric pain, nausea, headache. In this condition, activated carbon is taken and, if necessary, symptomatic treatment is carried out in a hospital setting.
special instructions
Lamisil Uno is intended exclusively for external use. The drug is not allowed to be taken orally!
The solution is not recommended to be applied to the skin of the face, since it can provoke irritation of the mucous membrane of the eyes. If the product does accidentally get into the eyes, they must be immediately rinsed thoroughly with running water.
Lamisil Uno should not be used for the treatment of chronic plantar hyperkeratosis caused by Tinea pedis (moccasin type).
If allergic reactions occur due to the use of the solution, the film must be removed with an organic solvent (denatured alcohol), and then the skin of the feet should be washed with soap and water. In case of allergic reactions, drug therapy is canceled.
To improve the therapeutic effect, areas treated with Lamisil Uno should not be washed for 24 hours after application. For this reason, it is recommended to use the drug after showering or taking a bath, and the next day to carry out hygiene procedures at the same time.
An improvement in clinical symptoms is usually noted within a few days. If a week after applying the solution, there is no improvement in the condition, it is necessary to consult a specialist.
The unused balance of the product must be disposed of.

Because terbinafine is excreted in human milk, it should not be used during breastfeeding.
Pediatric use

With impaired renal function
The drug should be used with caution in the presence of renal failure.
For violations of liver function
The drug is recommended to be used with caution in the presence of liver failure.
Use in the elderly
