Lactusan is a drug that helps to reduce intestinal acidity, stimulates the growth of acidophilic bacteria (including lactobacilli), suppresses the growth of proteolytic bacteria, reduces the formation of toxic nitrogen-containing substances, which plays an important role in the pathogenesis of hepatic encephalopathy.
Release form and composition
- Syrup for oral administration (100 and 300 ml in vials, 1 bottle per package, complete with a measuring cup);
- Tablets (20 pcs. In blisters, 3 blisters per pack).
Composition of the preparation:
- Lactulose (isomer of lactose - milk sugar) - not less than 45%;
- Fructose and galactose - no more than 10%.
Auxiliary component of the syrup: citric acid.
Indications for use
- Toxicosis of pregnant women, accompanied by functional digestive disorders;
- Intestinal dysbiosis of any severity in adults and children;
- Chronic constipation in children, pregnant women, the elderly and long-term immobilized patients;
- Colitis and other diseases of the digestive system;
- Salmonellosis;
- Prevention of intestinal infection;
- Liver diseases of various origins;
- Renal failure;
- Allergic reactions;
- Correction of the consequences of antibiotic therapy, manifested by disorders of the gastrointestinal tract.
Also, Lactusan is recommended to be taken to activate the intestinal immune system.
Contraindications
- Lactase deficiency;
- Galactosemia;
- Hypersensitivity to drug components.
Method of administration and dosage
The drug should be taken orally with meals.
Recommended doses:
- Adults: 2 tsp. syrup (10 ml) or 4-5 tablets 2 times a day;
- Children: 1 tsp. syrup (5 ml) 2 times a day; 1 tablet 3 times a day (for children over 5 years old).
An improvement in the condition is noted on days 2-3 after the start of taking the drug, but the duration of therapy is 7-14 days. With advanced forms of dysbiosis, the duration of treatment is increased by 1.5-2 times.
For the general improvement of the aging body, Lactusan is recommended to take 20 ml of syrup or 4-6 tablets per day.
Side effects
In the first days of using the drug, flatulence is possible (disappears on its own within 3 days).
In some cases, a laxative effect is noted.

If diarrhea develops as a result of taking Lactusan, the dose of the drug should be reduced by 2 times.
Drug interactions
Calcium-, aluminum- and magnesium-containing antacids, antibiotics and neomycin reduce the effectiveness of Lactusan.
With the combined use of diuretics, severe diarrhea may develop.
