Deprim forte is a herbal antidepressant.

Release form and composition

Dosage form of release of Deprima forte - capsules: opaque, gelatinous, green, size No. 0; the capsules contain grayish or greenish-brown compact granules with a characteristic odor (in blisters of 10 pcs., in a cardboard box of 2, 4 or 6 blisters).

Composition of 1 capsule:

  • active substance: herb St. John's wort (in the form of a dry extract, standardized for hypericin ND of the company 0.75-1.3 mg) - 425 mg;
  • auxiliary components: talc - 10 mg; lactose monohydrate - 18.7 mg; powdered cellulose - 6.2 mg; magnesium stearate - 5 mg; colloidal silicon dioxide - 26 mg; calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate - 40.5 mg;

Deprim forte is one of the herbal preparations that have antidepressant and anxiolytic effects.

Thanks to the main biologically active substances of St. John's wort - pseudohypericin, hypericin, hyperforin and flavonoids, the drug helps to improve the functional state of the central and autonomic nervous system, which manifests itself as an improvement in mood, increased mental / physical activity, and normalization of sleep.

Indications for use

  • depressive conditions of mild / moderate severity, proceeding with anxiety, including those associated with climacteric syndrome;
  • hypersensitivity to weather changes;
  • decreased mood.

Contraindications

  • severe depression;
  • photosensitivity, including a burdened history;
  • the presence of rare hereditary forms of galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or impaired absorption of glucose-galactose;
  • combination therapy with the following drugs: monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors, other antidepressants, warfarin, cyclosporine, tacrolimus, indinavir and other HIV protease inhibitors, irinotecan, imatinib and other cytostatics;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • age up to 12 years;
  • individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Instructions for the use of Deprima forte: method and dosage

Deprim forte is taken orally with water. Do not open capsules.

The recommended dosage regimen: 1 capsule per day (preferably at the same time). If necessary, the frequency of admission can be increased up to 2 times a day - in the morning and evening.

The therapeutic effect of the drug is manifested 10-14 days after the start of therapy. The greatest effect of Deprima forte is achieved when taken regularly for several weeks.

If there is no improvement after 4-6 weeks of use, it is necessary to discontinue the drug and consult a doctor.

The patient must definitely inform his attending physician that he is taking Deprim forte.

If you miss a single dose, you need to take it as soon as possible. Do not take a double dose (as compensation for a missed dose).

Side effects

  • digestive system: flatulence, nausea, abdominal pain (including in the epigastric region), constipation or diarrhea, dryness of the oral mucosa, anorexia;
  • skin / subcutaneous tissue: skin rash, itching of the skin, erythema, photosensitization (more often in HIV-infected patients), skin reactions similar to sunburn on areas of the skin exposed to intense sun exposure (due to photosensitization, mainly in patients with light skin);
  • blood / lymphatic system: iron deficiency anemia;
  • nervous system: increased fatigue, anxiety, headache;
  • others: increased sensitization to animal hair.

Overdose

Data on cases of overdose have not been reported to date. When taking Deprim forte in doses exceeding the recommended ones, the severity of dose-dependent adverse reactions may increase. There is evidence of confusion and seizures after taking up to 4,500 mg of dry extract per day for 14 days and an additional 15,000 mg of dry extract immediately before hospitalization. With significant overdose, phototoxic reactions may occur.

Overdose therapy is symptomatic. Shows the cancellation of Deprima forte, the intake of activated carbon. Sun exposure and UV radiation should be avoided for 7-14 days. Outdoor activities should be limited and sun protection products / clothing should be used where necessary.

Combination therapy with indirect coumarin anticoagulants (phenprocoumon), theophylline and digoxin can lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of these drugs. Careful monitoring of the condition of patients taking these drugs is required (in particular, control of plasma concentration in the blood is shown), especially at the beginning and after the end of the use of Deprim forte.

Taking the drug can lead to the development of intermenstrual bleeding in women who are taking oral contraceptives. Due to the fact that Deprim forte can reduce the effectiveness of these drugs, it is recommended to use additional contraceptive measures.

Do not use a tanning bed or sunbathe during therapy.

It is recommended to refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages.

Patients with diabetes should take into account that Deprim forte contains no more than 0.01 XE.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

According to the instructions, Deprim forte is not prescribed during pregnancy and lactation, which is due to the lack of data confirming the safety / effectiveness of its administration.

Pediatric use

For patients under 12 years of age, therapy is contraindicated.

Drug interactions

Deprim forte activates microsomal oxidation (cytochrome P450), and therefore must be taken with caution in combination with the following drugs / substances: drugs containing digoxin, anti-asthma drugs containing theophylline, antidepressants (tricyclic, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, inhibitors MAO), indinavir, cyclosporine, reserpine, oral contraceptives, anti-migraine drugs (triptans), anticonvulsants.

Also, Deprim forte can enhance the effect of narcotic analgesics and general anesthetics (medical advice is required).
