Ginezol 7 is a drug for topical use in gynecological practice that has antifungal effect.
Release form and composition
Dosage form of the drug Ginesol 7 - vaginal suppositories: cylindrical, with a rounded end, white or almost white (7 pcs. In blisters, in a cardboard box 1 blister complete with an applicator).
1 suppository contains:
- active substance: miconazole nitrate - 100 mg;
- auxiliary component: solid fat - 2.4 g.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
The active component of Ginesol 7 - miconazole - has a combined effect: antifungal - in relation to yeasts, dermatophytes and various other mycoses, antibacterial - in relation to certain types of gram-positive bacteria. The substance inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol in fungi and changes the composition of other lipid components in the membrane, resulting in necrosis of fungal cells.
Miconazole is very effective and quickly relieves itching, often accompanying yeast and dermatophyte infections.
With intravaginal application of Ginesol 7, the composition of the pH of the vagina and its microflora do not change.
Pharmacokinetics
Due to the intravaginal administration of suppositories, an active suspension is released, the systemic absorption of which is limited. After 8 hours from the moment of application of the drug in the vagina, up to 90% of miconazole is still present. Unchanged miconazole is not detected either in urine or plasma.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Ginesol 7 is recommended for the local treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis and secondary vaginal infections caused by gram-positive bacteria.
Contraindications
Absolute:
- I trimester of pregnancy;
- children under 12 years old;
- increased individual sensitivity to compounds of the imidazole group, including miconazole, as well as to other components of the drug.
Relative contraindications for which suppositories must be used with caution:
- microcirculation disorders;
- diabetes;
- II and III trimesters of pregnancy;
- period of breastfeeding.
Instructions for use Ginesol 7: method and dosage
Ginesol 7 suppositories are administered intravaginally, deeply, using a special applicator in the package.
Recommended dosage regimen: 1 pc. in the evening, before going to bed.
The course of therapy is 6-7 days.
Side effects
Negative side effects are extremely rare, mainly at the beginning of therapy, in most cases are mild. They are usually manifested by local irritation, itching and a burning sensation.
Overdose
Overdose symptoms are nausea / vomiting, dyspepsia, diarrhea.

The use of vaginal suppositories containing miconazole simultaneously with indirect coumarin anticoagulants (for example, with warfarin) can lead to an increase in the plasma concentration of indirect anticoagulants. In connection with the above, careful monitoring of the symptoms of their adverse reactions, such as spontaneous bruising and bleeding, as well as control of the INR (International Normalized Ratio) are required.
