Powder for preparation of oral solution (for children) Hydrovit
Powder for preparation of oral solution (for children) Hydrovit

Hydrovit is a drug for detoxification and rehydration for oral administration. Normalizes water and electrolyte balance.

Release form and composition

Hydrovit is available in the following forms:

  • powder for preparation of solution for oral administration (for children): white or almost white (4.869 g each in sachets of combined material, 10 sachets in a carton);
  • powder for the preparation of a solution for oral administration (strawberry, for children): light red, with a characteristic strawberry smell (5.129 g each in sachets made of combined material, 10 sachets in a cardboard box).

Composition for 1 sachet of powder:

  • active ingredients: dextrose monohydrate - 3.56 g, sodium chloride - 0.47 g, potassium chloride - 0.3 g, sodium hydrocitrate - 0.53 g;
  • auxiliary components: colloidal silicon dioxide; additionally (for powder with strawberry flavor) - aspartame, malic acid, dry beet root spray, strawberry flavor Evoglass.

Indications for use

Hydrovit is used for diarrhea for the purpose of electrolyte replacement and rehydration (replacement of fluid and salt loss), as well as for the prevention of water-electrolyte disorders resulting from intense sweating during hyperthermia and / or physical exertion.

Contraindications

Absolute:

  • chronic or acute renal failure;
  • metabolic alkalosis (violation of acid-base balance);
  • indomitable vomiting;
  • congenital monosaccharide malabsorption (impaired absorption of carbohydrates in the intestine);
  • an abnormally high concentration of potassium in the blood;
  • hypovolemic shock, depression of consciousness.

Relative (Hydrovit is used with caution):

  • arterial hypertension;
  • heart failure;
  • violations of water and electrolyte balance due to insufficient renal function;
  • diabetes mellitus (since the drug contains glucose).

Method of administration and dosage

The drug is intended for oral administration.

A solution of Hydrovit is prepared immediately before use. For this, the contents of one sachet are dissolved in 200 ml of tea or boiled chilled or drinking water. The solution should be consumed immediately after preparation.

For children who cannot drink the suggested portion at one time, the solution is given in small portions until the recommended dose is reached.

The prepared solution is stable for 1 hour at room temperature and for no more than 24 hours if stored in a refrigerator.

Recommended doses:

  • infants and toddlers under the age of 3 years: 3-5 sachets (and more if necessary) within 24 hours;
  • middle-aged children: 1 sachet after each bowel movement;
  • older children and adults: 1–2 sachets after each bowel movement.

The recommended dose of Hydrovit in the form of a ready-made solution is calculated based on the patient's body weight: infants and young children are prescribed 150 ml / kg of body weight, middle-aged and older children and adults - 20-40 ml / kg of body weight.

At the beginning of treatment, higher doses of the drug can be used to achieve complete and rapid replacement of salt and fluid loss.

Treatment is continued as long as the diarrhea lasts. In infants and preschool children, the advisability of using the drug for more than 24 hours (in schoolchildren and adult patients - more than 36 hours) is determined by the attending physician.

Side effects

In isolated cases, side effects from the gastrointestinal tract (nausea and vomiting), as well as allergic reactions, can be observed.

special instructions

Severe fluid loss can lead to hypovolemic shock and depression of consciousness, so drug treatment should be started as early as possible. In severe dehydration, especially in infants, primary rehydration should be given by intravenous fluids, and only then, if appropriate, should be given oral medication.

If diarrhea persists for a long time and / or general deterioration of the condition, you should consult a doctor, as such symptoms may indicate a serious illness.

When Gidrovit is prescribed to breastfed children, the diet does not change. The drug should be given between feedings in small portions.

Infants who are bottle-fed return to their normal diet in 6-12 hours. For babies aged 0–6 months, the first portion of the formula should be diluted with water at a rate of 1: 2 or 1: 1. Children over 6 months old are given the usual serving of formula milk. Younger and older children who are on a common table should receive food that is suitable for this age and rich in polymeric carbohydrates (bananas, rice, potatoes, etc.).

Hydrovit should not be used in case of poor absorption in the gastrointestinal tract (for example, vomiting or acute intestinal obstruction).

In case of congenital metabolic disorders and phenylketonuria, it is undesirable to take Strawberry Hydrovit, since it contains aspartame, which is converted in the body into phenylalanine.

Information for patients with diabetes mellitus: one sachet of Hydrovit contains 3.56 g of glucose (this is equivalent to 0.3 g of a carbohydrate substitute or 3.56 g of carbohydrates).

The finished solution for oral administration contains 90 mmol / L glucose, 60 mmol / L Na +, 60 mmol / L Cl -, 20 mmol / L K + and 10 mmol / L HCO 3 -. The Hydrovit solution has an osmolarity of 240 mosm / l.

Drug interactions

When used together with cardiac glycosides, the effect of the latter can be weakened.

When Gidrovit is taken by patients who use cardiac glycosides on a regular basis, it is required to control the serum potassium concentration.

Analogs

Analogs of Hydrovit are: Regidron, Reosolan, Trigidron and Tsitroglucosolan.
