Gelarium Hypericum is a herbal preparation that has an antidepressant, anxiolytic effect.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - dragee: biconvex round, with a greenish-yellow shell (in blisters: 15 pcs., In a cardboard box 2 blisters; 20 pcs., In a cardboard box 3 blisters; 25 pcs., In a cardboard box 4 blister).

1 tablet contains:

  • active substance: dry extract of the herb St. John's wort - 285 mg (extractant - 60% ethanol);
  • auxiliary components: colloidal silicon dioxide, potato starch, lactose, magnesium stearate;
  • shell: sucrose, macrogol, shellac, kaolin, calcium carbonate, gum arabic, titanium dioxide (E171), quinoline yellow (E104), green varnish (E104 / E132), talc.

Indications for use

  • neurotic reactions;
  • psychovegetative disorders, including apathy, decreased mood;
  • mild and moderate severity of depressive conditions.

Contraindications

  • age up to 12 years;
  • lack of lactase, deficiency of sucrase or isomaltase, lactose or fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome;
  • hypersensitivity (photosensitivity) of the skin to ultraviolet radiation;
  • concomitant therapy with cyclosporine, tacrolimus (for systemic use), HIV protease inhibitors (including amprenavir, indinavir), warfarin, irinotecan, monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors;
  • period of pregnancy;
  • breast-feeding;
  • individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Method of administration and dosage

Dragee is taken orally with meals, swallowing whole and washed down with water as needed.

Recommended dosage: 1 pc. 3 times a day, the duration of treatment is 28 days or more.

Side effects

  • from the central nervous system: headache, excessive fatigue, anxiety;
  • allergic reactions: possibly - itchy skin, rash, skin pigmentation, eczema, photosensitivity, increased sensitivity to animal hair;
  • from the digestive system: dryness of the oral mucosa, nausea, flatulence, abdominal pain (including the epigastric region), anorexia, diarrhea, constipation;
  • on the part of the hematopoietic organs: iron deficiency anemia.

Drug interactions

  • indirect anticoagulants (warfarin, phenprocoumon), midazolam, digoxin, cytostatics (including imatinib), amitriptyline, fexofenadine, theophylline, methadone, benzodiazepines, nortriptyline, verapamil, finasteride, simvastatin - reduce their effectiveness;
  • paroxetine, nefazodone, sertraline, buspirone, triptans (antidepressants) - can intensify their action and cause nausea, vomiting, confusion, fear, anxiety;
  • thiazide diuretics, tetracycline, sulfonamides, quinolones, piroxicam - enhance their photosensitizing effect;
  • general anesthesia drugs, narcotic analgesics - enhance their effect, causing prolonged sleep;
  • reserpine - reduces its hypotensive effect;
  • cyclosporin, indinavir, digoxin - reduce their blood concentration and therapeutic effect;
  • ethinyl estradiol, desogestrel - increase the risk of breakthrough bleeding;
  • theophylline - increases the rate of its metabolism;
  • oral contraceptives - reduce the contraceptive properties, therefore, the use of additional barrier methods of contraception is required.

St. John's wort shortens the sleep period caused by barbiturates.
