Gastrolith is a drug that helps to normalize water and electrolyte balance.
Release form and composition
The dosage form of Gastrolit is a powder for preparing a solution for oral administration (in sachets of 4.15 g, 15 sachets in a cardboard box).
Composition of 4150 mg (1 sachet) powder:
- sodium chloride - 350 mg;
- sodium bicarbonate - 500 mg;
- potassium chloride - 300 mg;
- glucose - 2900 mg;
- chamomile (as dry extract) 100 mg
Concentration of electrolytes in solution after dissolving 1 sachet of powder in 200 ml water:
- K + - 20 mmol / l;
- Na + - 60 mmol / l;
- HCO 3 - - 30 mmol / l;
- Cl - - 50 mmol / l;
- glucose - 80 mmol / l.
The osmolarity of the Gastrolit solution is 240 mosm / l.
Indications for use
Gastrolith is prescribed for the treatment and prevention of mild dehydration syndrome in acute diarrhea.
Contraindications
Absolute:
- renal failure with electrolyte disturbances;
- hyperkalemia;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Relative (diseases and conditions in which Gastrolite therapy requires caution):
- heart failure;
- hypertonic disease;
- diabetes mellitus (the drug contains glucose).
Method of administration and dosage
The tour is taken orally. Previously, the powder from 1 sachet must be dissolved in hot boiled water with a volume of 200 ml and cooled. It is not recommended to sweeten the solution.
The dosage regimen is determined by age and the degree of dehydration (first dose within the first 4 hours / later after each loose stool):
- infants: 50–100 ml / kg / approximately 10 ml / kg;
- children 1-3 years: 50 ml / kg / approximately 10 ml / kg;
- children from 3 years old: 500 ml (the drug is taken to quench thirst) / about 100-200 ml;
- adults: 500–1000 ml (the drug is taken until thirst is quenched) / about 200 ml.
To prevent dehydration, after each loose stool, the following are usually prescribed:
- infants and young children: 10 ml / kg;
- older children and adults: 200 ml.
Side effects
In rare cases, during the period of application of Gastrolit, the development of hyperkalemia is observed.

The precipitation in the solution is acceptable, which does not affect the efficiency of the Gastrolit.
Drug interactions
No significant interaction of Gastrolit with other drugs / substances has been identified.
Analogs

Store at 15-25 ° C in a place protected from moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
