Wormin is an anthelmintic drug with a broad spectrum of action.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - tablets: vanillin scent, light orange, flat round shape with beveled edges (6 pcs. In blisters, in a cardboard box 1 or 4 blisters).
The active ingredient of Vormin is mebendazole, in 1 tablet - 100 mg.
Auxiliary components: sodium lauryl sulfate, corn starch, calcium hydrogen phosphate, gelatin, magnesium stearate, vanillin (Monsanto), purified talc, dyes orange DC116A, sunset yellow.
Indications for use
The use of Vormin is indicated for the treatment of diseases of parasitic etiology: enterobiasis, ankylostomiasis, ascariasis, strongyloidiasis, trichinosis, echinococcosis, trichocephalosis, teniasis, multiple nematodes, capillariasis, alveococcosis, mixed helminthiasis, gnatostomiasis.
Contraindications
- The period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- Age up to 2 years;
- Liver failure;
- Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis;
- Hypersensitivity to drug components.
Method of administration and dosage
The tablets are taken orally with plenty of water.
Recommended dosage:
- Enterobiasis: patients over 10 years old - 100 mg, children 2-10 years old - 25-50 mg, once. It is recommended that all family members take the drug at the same time. If there is a high risk of re-infection after 2-4 weeks, therapy at the same dose should be repeated;
- Ascariasis, ankylostomiasis, strongyloidiasis, teniasis, mixed helminthiasis, trichocephalosis: 100 mg 2 times a day (morning and evening), the course of treatment is 3 days;
- Trichinosis: during the first three days - 200-400 mg, from 4 to 10 days - 400-500 mg, frequency of administration - 3 times a day;
- Echinococcosis: 500 mg - the first 3 days 2 times a day, then 3 days 3 times a day, then continue to increase to the maximum dose, which corresponds to 25-30 mg per 1 kg of patient weight per day, the calculated dose is divided by 3-4 reception.
Side effects
- Possibly: nausea, dizziness, abdominal pain;
- Others: against the background of prolonged use of high doses - headache, vomiting, diarrhea, allergic reactions (urticaria, skin rash, angioedema), leukopenia, increased activity of liver enzymes, anemia, hypercreatininemia, hair loss, cylindruria, eosinophilia, hematuria.

After the end of treatment, it is necessary to conduct studies of feces and smears of the anal area, since the treatment is considered effective in the absence of helminths or their eggs for 7 days.
Long-term use of Vormin must be accompanied by regular monitoring of liver and kidney function, peripheral blood patterns.
After taking the drug, during the first day, the use of fatty foods, alcoholic beverages, and the use of laxatives are prohibited.

Avoid simultaneous use with lipophilic substances.
In patients with diabetes mellitus, Wormin reduces the need for insulin.
The combination with cimetidine can cause an increase in the concentration of mebendazole in the blood, and with carbamazepine and other metabolic inducers, it can decrease.
