Vitabact is an antimicrobial drug used in the treatment of inflammatory eye diseases.

Release form and composition

Vitabact eye drops are produced. The active ingredient is piloxidine. 1 ml of solution contains piloxidine hydrochloride - 500 mg. Auxiliary components: purified water, anhydrous dextrose, polysorbate 80.

Eye drops Vitabakt are available in polyethylene dropper bottles. Volume - 10 ml.

Piloxidine is a compound of the biguanide group. It has a broad antimicrobial effect. Effectively acts in the treatment of inflammatory and infectious lesions of the anterior parts of the eye caused by E. coli, shigella, pathogenic cocci, chlamydia and other fungi and viruses.

The drug acts locally, there is practically no absorption of piloxidine, therefore, it enters the systemic circulation in the smallest quantities.

Indications for the use of drops Vitabact

According to the instructions, Vitabact is prescribed for inflammatory and infectious lesions of the anterior parts of the eye (dacryocystitis, keratitis, blepharitis, conjunctivitis), as well as for chlamydial eye infections (trachoma), and other microorganisms that are sensitive to the action of piloxidine.

According to the instructions, Vitabact is also prescribed to patients who have undergone surgery on the eyeball in order to prevent the development of infections and complications.

Method of application and dosage of Vitabact eye drops

According to the instructions, Vitabact is used exclusively on the recommendations of doctors. The duration of treatment and dosage of the drug is determined by the attending physician.

For the treatment of bacterial eye lesions, the dosage is 1-2 drops in each eye from two to six times a day. As the symptoms subside, the dosage and the number of instillations are gradually reduced. The duration of treatment is ten days.

For prophylactic purposes against infectious lesions in the postoperative period, drops are instilled one-time by 1-2 drops immediately before the operation in each eye, as well as 1-2 drops three to four times on the first day after the operation.
