Vilozen is a topical drug with an immunomodulatory effect that inhibits the formation of reagins and the development of delayed-type hypersensitivity.

Release form and composition

Dosage form Vilozen - nasal powder: lyophilized porous powder mass or amorphous powder with a specific odor, color - from light brown to light yellow (20 mg in ampoules (vials), in a cardboard box 10 ampoules or 5 vials complete with dropper cap).

1 ampoule (vial) contains the active ingredient: an extract of the thymus gland (thymus) of cattle - 20 mg.

Indications for use

A solution prepared from a lyophilisate is used intranasally for the treatment of allergic diseases of the upper respiratory tract - pollinosis and infectious-allergic rhinosinusitis.

Contraindications

  • bacterial infections and severe broncho-obstructive syndrome, manifested by a combination of bronchial inflammation with impaired bronchial patency, in patients with bronchial asthma;
  • individual hypersensitivity to Vilosen.

There is no experience of using the drug in children and women during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).

Method of administration and dosage

Vilozen is used topically for intranasal inhalation or instillation.

The recommended daily dose for adult patients is 20 mg (contents of one ampoule or one vial). Immediately before the procedure, 2 ml of a solvent should be added to the ampoule (bottle) with the drug: 0.9% sodium chloride solution or boiled / distilled water. Vilozen is instilled into each nostril 5 times a day, 5–7 drops, or the entire dose is used once in the form of intranasal inhalation.

The duration of the course of therapy is 14–20 days. If necessary, repeat the course.

Side effects

In the first week of using Vilozen, there may be a short headache and exacerbation of nasal congestion. Allergic reactions are also possible. In case of drug intolerance, Vilozen therapy is canceled.

For the treatment of pollinosis, it is recommended to use the drug with the appearance of the first signs of the disease. In order to prevent hay fever, the drug is started a week before the potential onset of clinical symptoms of hay fever.

The solution prepared from the powder must be used within 1 day.

The ability to influence the speed of psychomotor reactions and concentration of attention has not been studied.
