Release form and composition
Dosage form of Vizin classic - eye drops: transparent, colorless (2 strips each containing 5 transparent ampoules for single use, 0.5 ml each, in a paper / aluminum / polyethylene / film bag, in a cardboard box 1 packet; 15 ml each dropper bottles, in a cardboard box 1 dropper bottle).
Composition of 1 ml solution:
- active substance: tetrizoline hydrochloride - 0.5 mg;
- auxiliary components (ampoules): boric acid - 12.3 mg; sodium tetraborate (borax) - 0.25 mg; sodium chloride - 2.23 mg; water for injection - up to 1 ml;
- auxiliary components (bottle-dropper): sodium tetraborate - 0.57 mg; boric acid - 12.3 mg; sodium chloride - 2.23 mg; disodium edetate dihydrate - 1 mg; benzalkonium chloride - 0.1 mg (in the form of a 50% solution of benzalkonium chloride - 0.2 mg); purified water - 989.78 mg.

Pharmacodynamics
Tetrizoline hydrochloride is an α-adrenergic agonist. Stimulates α-adrenergic receptors of the sympathetic nervous system, has little or no effect on β-adrenergic receptors. It has vasoconstrictor properties and helps to reduce tissue edema.
The action of Vizin classic after instillation develops within one minute and lasts from 4 to 8 hours.
Pharmacokinetics
In the presence of damage to the epithelium and mucous membrane, systemic absorption of tetrizoline hydrochloride is possible.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Vizin classic is prescribed for edema and hyperemia of the conjunctiva associated with allergies or exposure to physical / chemical factors, including contact lenses, cosmetics, dust, smoke, chlorinated water, light.
Contraindications
Absolute:
- angle-closure glaucoma;
- endothelial-epithelial corneal dystrophy;
- age up to 2 years;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Relative (Vizin classic is prescribed under medical supervision):
- severe cardiovascular diseases, including ischemic heart disease, arterial hypertension, aneurysm, arrhythmias;
- hyperthyroidism;
- diabetes;
- pheochromocytoma;
- combination therapy with monoamine oxidase inhibitors or other drugs that can increase blood pressure;
- age 2-6 years;
- pregnancy and lactation.
Instructions for use of Vizin classic: method and dosage
Vizin classic is instilled 2-3 times a day into the affected eye, 1-2 drops.
Continuous use for more than 4 days is not recommended.
Side effects
During the use of Vizin classic, in rare cases, violations of the organ of vision can develop, manifested in the form of a burning sensation, irritation of the conjunctiva, redness of the eye, pain / tingling in the eye, dilated pupil, blurred vision (medical advice is required).
Overdose
In cases of compliance with the recommended dosage regimen, the likelihood of an overdose is minimal. If the solution enters the gastrointestinal tract, the following disorders may occur: pulmonary edema, fever, pupil dilation, cyanosis, nausea, convulsions, respiratory dysfunctions, tachycardia, arrhythmia, arterial hypertension, central nervous system dysfunctions, cardiac arrest, coma. The highest risk is found in newborns and young children.
The specific antidote is unknown. Therapy includes taking activated charcoal, gastric lavage, oxygen inhalation, the use of anticonvulsant and antipyretic drugs. In order to lower blood pressure, it is possible to slowly intravenously administer 5 mg of phentolamine in saline or orally at a dose of 100 mg. At low blood pressure, vasopressor agents are contraindicated.

The amount of solution in one ampoule is sufficient for a single injection into both eyes. Vizine classic must be used immediately after opening the package.
Avoid contact of the dropper tip with any surfaces. After using the drug, the cap of the dropper bottle should be screwed on.
Before instilling Vizin classic, contact lenses must be removed; after instillation, they can be installed after about 15 minutes.
The drug is indicated for use only in cases of mild eye irritation. If there is no improvement within 48 hours (symptoms persist / increase), the drug should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted. Also, immediate medical attention is required when the following symptoms appear: intense pain in the eyes, double vision, headache, loss of vision, sudden appearance of floating spots in front of the eyes, pain when exposed to light, redness of the eyes.
If hyperemia or irritation is associated with serious diseases of the organ of vision (infection, chemical trauma of the cornea or a foreign body), Vizin classic should not be used.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms
When assessing the ability to drive vehicles, the likelihood of impairments such as blurred vision and dilated pupils must be taken into account.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Given the likelihood of developing systemic adverse reactions, Vizin classic during pregnancy / breastfeeding is prescribed under medical supervision.
Pediatric use
- up to 2 years: Vizin classic is contraindicated;
- 2–6 years: therapy must be administered with caution.
Drug interactions
Simultaneous use with tricyclic antidepressants, monoamine oxidase inhibitors such as tranylcypromine, as well as drugs that lead to an increase in blood pressure is not recommended, since combination therapy can lead to the development of side effects (in the form of increased vasoconstrictor efficacy and increased blood pressure).
