1 g of solution contains:

  • active ingredients: 3-methylphenol (metacresol) - 392 mg, phenol - 588 mg;
  • additional components: purified water, ethyl alcohol (ethanol) 95%.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Verrukacid is a local non-necrotizing drug that has a cauterizing effect at the site of application and ensures coagulation of skin proteins.

Indications for use

  • keratomas;
  • dry calluses;
  • genital warts of the skin;
  • papillomas;
  • common, plantar and filiform warts.

Contraindications

  • age up to 7 years;
  • rashes localized on the mucous membranes and on the red border of the lips;
  • pigmented nevi (moles);
  • surface treatment of leather with an area exceeding 20 cm²;
  • hypersensitivity to the constituents of Verrukacid.

Instructions for the use of Verrukacid: method and dosage

Verrukacid solution is intended exclusively for external use!

The drug should be carefully applied with a special applicator or a thin wooden stick strictly on the treated formation, avoiding accidental contact with the solution on the mucous membranes bordering the problem area and healthy skin.

Filiform warts and small papillomas (up to 2 mm in diameter) are recommended to be treated 1 time. On larger papillomas and small warts (2-3 mm in diameter), the agent should be applied 3-4 times with breaks necessary to dry it. With an interval of 3-4 minutes, keratomas and dry calluses should be treated with a solution 3-4 times, warts on the hands and soles - 7-10 times.

Before removing plantar warts, dry calluses, keratomas, warts on the hands with Verrukacid, it is necessary to free their surface from horny layers. To this end, it is recommended to apply a keratolytic ointment (for example, salicylic 10%) to the problem area, then cover it with compress paper or plastic wrap and apply a gauze bandage on top or glue it with an adhesive plaster. A few hours later, after removing the adhesive plaster or bandage, steam the treated skin area for 10-15 minutes in hot water with baking soda and soap and remove the horny layers, cutting them off with forceps or nail scissors. After the skin has dried, it is required to apply the solution to it several times at intervals of 3-4 minutes.

If it is necessary to repeatedly apply the Verrukacid solution, it is advisable to apply zinc paste to prevent the occurrence of a possible burn on the adjacent skin. After the last applied drop of solution has completely dried, the paste layer can be removed with a dry gauze swab.

It is recommended to remove genital warts only in the treatment room. The solution is applied separately to each element 1–2 times with an interval of 3–4 minutes.

If re-processing is required, it is carried out 6–8 days after the crusts fall off. Carrying out 4-5 procedures is the maximum allowable.

Side effects

If you accidentally apply the solution to healthy skin, there is a risk of burns. In such cases, it is required to immediately, without rubbing, carefully remove the product from the healthy skin area with ethyl alcohol 10–40% or liquids containing alcohol (vodka, cologne, lotion), and then thoroughly rinse it with warm water and soap. If a burn does occur on the treated surface, anti-burn and healing agents should be used.

When applying the solution to the lesions in the eye area, it is possible to develop redness of the skin and edema, which pass independently. During the period of therapy, the development of allergic reactions can also sometimes be noted.

Overdose

Overdose cases of Verrukacid have not yet been recorded.

special instructions

Verrukacid should not get on the mucous membranes, and especially on the mucous membranes of the eyes. If this happens, the eyes should be immediately rinsed with plenty of water and then consult an ophthalmologist.

The areas of the skin treated with the solution should not be covered with a plaster or bandaged, and these surfaces should not be allowed to come into contact with clothing made of synthetic fabrics. It is unacceptable to tear off the crusts and reapply the drug earlier than the time recommended above.

The formation treated with a cauterizing agent should dry in the air; during the day after the procedure, it cannot be washed or lubricated with any ointments.

According to the instructions, Verrukacid is not recommended to be applied to neoplasms localized in the interdigital spaces, the anal area, inguinal and other skin folds, as well as on heavily sweating areas due to the aggravating risk of drug spreading and burns.

When used correctly, the product will not leave scars.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

Verrukacid can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding only in cases where the expected benefits of therapy for the mother outweigh the possible threat to the health of the fetus / child.

During the period of breastfeeding, it is not recommended to remove neoplasms that have arisen on the mammary glands and hands.

Pediatric use

In children under 7 years of age, the use of Verrukacid is contraindicated; in children over 7 years of age, the solution is recommended to be used with extreme caution.

Drug interactions

Some patients were still dissatisfied with the use of the product, as they experienced a burning sensation and painful sensations at the site of its application.
