Bystrumgel is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug intended for external use.
Release form and composition
The drug is available in the form of a gel for external use 2.5% (in aluminum tubes of 30, 50 and 100 g).
The active ingredient is ketoprofen, as auxiliary components, the drug contains:
- Nipagin;
- Trometamol;
- Neroli oil;
- Lavender oil;
- Carbomer;
- Rectified ethyl alcohol;
- Purified water.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
The active component of Bystrumgel is capable of indiscriminate inhibition of COX-1 and COX-2, which causes disruption of the arachidonic acid cycle. Therapy with the drug leads to a decrease in the production of prostaglandins, histamine and bradycardin, which causes inhibition of the exudative phase of inflammatory processes. Interaction with cyclooxygenase isoenzymes causes a decrease in the permeability of the vessel walls.
The active ingredient of Bystrumgel inhibits oxidative phosphorylation, which disrupts the normal synthesis of glycosaminoglycans and prevents the development of the fibrinoid stage of inflammation in rheumatoid pathologies.
Ketoprofen slows down energy metabolism by decreasing the production of ATP. This reduces the energy supply to the inflammation focus. Also, the active component of the drug inhibits free radical reactions and protects cell membranes from damage caused by these particles.
Ketoprofen has an analgesic effect, which is explained by the suppression of the sensitizing effect of prostaglandins. The severity of edema and the intensity of inflammatory processes decrease, which helps to reduce pressure on pain receptors and the disappearance of nociceptive sensations.
Pharmacokinetics
The bioavailability of the drug is 5%. When applied topically, the rate of its absorption is low, while it practically does not accumulate in the human body.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Bystrumgel is indicated for traumatic or inflammatory lesions of muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints:
- Tendosynovitis, tendinitis;
- Injuries to the ligaments and meniscus of the knee, dislocations, bruises;
- Lumbago;
- Arthritis and periarthritis;
- Bursitis;
- Crooked;
- Phlebitis and periphlebitis.
Contraindications
- Eczema;
- Dermatoses;
- Infected wounds and abrasions;
- Hypersensitivity to drug components;
- Pregnancy and lactation period;

Instructions for the use of Bystrumgel: method and dosage
The drug is recommended to be used 2 times a day. Depending on the area of the painful area, use a strip of gel 3-5 cm or more. The drug must be evenly distributed in a thin layer and rubbed into the skin of the painful area with gentle movements until completely absorbed.
To achieve greater effectiveness of treatment, a dry occlusive dressing is allowed.
Side effects
The use of the drug in isolated cases can cause allergic reactions (in this case, therapy should be discontinued), photosensitization.
Overdose
The extremely low systemic absorption of the active ingredients of Bystrumgel when applied externally rarely causes cases of overdose. It is assumed that when the drug is used in very high doses, it can provoke increased bleeding.
