Lozenges Brizantin
Lozenges Brizantin

Brizanthin is a combination drug for the treatment of nicotine addiction to smoking.

Release form and composition

The drug is produced in the form of tablets for resorption: flat-cylindrical, round, with a risk and a chamfer; on the side with a line the inscription MATERIA MEDICA, on the other side - BRIZANTIN; color - from almost white to white (20 pcs. in blisters made of PVC / Al foil, in a cardboard box 1, 2 or 5 packages).

1 tablet contains:

  • active ingredients (applied to lactose as a mixture of three active aqueous-alcoholic dilutions of the substance, diluted by a factor of 100 12, 100 30 and 100 200, respectively): affinity purified antibodies to brain-specific protein S-100 - 0.006 g; affinity purified antibodies to type I cannabinoid receptor - 0.006 g;
  • auxiliary ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate.

Pharmacological properties

Brizantin is a modulator of the system of positive emotional reinforcement, reducing the intensity of attraction to psychoactive substances in patients with nicotinism, and normalizing the balance of neurotransmitters in the central nervous system. Also, the drug is characterized by neuroprotective activity, which provides an increase in the brain's resistance to toxic effects, a decrease in the severity of somatovegetative manifestations in withdrawal conditions, an improvement in integrative activity, an increase in mental performance, and elimination of cognitive impairments.

The use of Brizantin allows you to minimize asthenovegetative (tachycardia, severe general weakness, sweating, decreased appetite and performance, etc.), ideational (thoughts about nicotine) and affective (internal discomfort, bad mood, irritability) disorders. Taking the drug helps to reduce the dose of consumed nicotine and the number of cigarettes smoked, as well as reduce anxiety against the background of quitting smoking. Brizantin has no muscle relaxant effect, has no narcogenic potential, and treatment with it does not lead to the development of addiction or drug dependence. During therapy, the patient's weight does not increase against the background of smoking cessation.

Pharmacodynamics

Antibodies to brain-specific protein S-100 have antidepressant, antioxidant, anxiolytic, neuroprotective, antihypoxant effects. They are involved in the modification of the functional activity of the S-100 protein, which is responsible for the conjugation of metabolic and informational processes in the brain. These antibodies are characterized by membranotropic action, which explains the inhibition of generation and a decrease in the amplitude of the action potential, modulate synaptic transmission in the limbic brain structures, reticular formation and hippocampus, and promote the activation of the inhibitory effects of GABA in the central nervous system. Also, these active components of Brisantin inhibit the processes of lipid peroxidation and demonstrate the properties of a σ 1 -receptor agonist in vitro.

Antibodies to the type I cannabinoid receptor modulate this receptor and change the concentration of intracellular cAMP, and also participate in the regulation of the endocannabinoid system in the central nervous system (mainly in the neurons of the mesolimbic system) and peripheral tissues and contribute to the normalization of the energy balance, improving the metabolism of lipids and glucose.

In the course of experiments in which models of self-stimulation of the lateral hypothalamus were used, a synergistic anti-addictive effect was confirmed when both active substances of the drug were used together.

Pharmacokinetics

Modern physicochemical methods of analysis (gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, high-performance liquid chromatography, gas-liquid chromatography) are not sensitive enough to determine the concentration of ultralow doses of antibodies in organs, tissues, and biological fluids, which makes it practically impossible to study the pharmacokinetic parameters of Brizantin.

Indications for use

According to the instructions, Brizantin is used to reduce the craving for smoking, both in the initial period (the first days) of quitting nicotine, so-called. the period of abstinence, and with an impulsive desire to smoke.

Contraindications

The use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been studied. If necessary, treatment with Brizantin should take into account the ratio of benefits to the mother with the risk to the fetus / child.

Reviews about Brizantine

Currently, reviews of Brizantine from smokers are rather controversial. Some patients claim that the drug was completely ineffective even after a long course of treatment and that it was just a placebo, while noting as an advantage the lack of pronounced smell and taste. Many people explain its uselessness by the homeopathic composition of the drug. However, there are reviews of Brisantine from smokers, which indicate that the drug really reduces the craving for smoking, while slightly increasing drowsiness and sometimes causing irritability, dry mouth, and abdominal pain. It is not recommended to take more than 3 tablets a day in order not to provoke allergies.

Price for Brizantin in pharmacies

The approximate price of Brizantin in pharmacy chains is 227-395 rubles (the package includes 40 tablets).
