When applied topically, chlorhexidine is practically not absorbed.

Dexpanthenol is absorbed into the skin, converting in its cells into pantothenic acid, which in turn binds to blood plasma proteins. It is excreted unchanged mainly in the urine - about 70%, the remaining ~ 30% - in the feces.
