Stopgripan is a combined drug used for the symptomatic treatment of acute respiratory diseases.

Release form and composition

Dosage form Stopgripan - powder for preparation of oral solution, crystalline: lemon - light yellow, with a specific lemon aroma, the resulting solution is yellowish, opaque, has a lemon smell; black currant - from light pink to dark pink with blue crystals, with a specific aroma of black currant, the resulting solution is purple, opaque, has the smell of black currant (in a cardboard box 10 sachets, 21.5 g each).

Stopgripan's composition (1 sachet):

  • active substances: pheniramine maleate - 20 mg; phenylephrine hydrochloride - 10 mg; paracetamol - 325 mg; ascorbic acid - 50 mg;
  • auxiliary components: maltodextrin, sodium citrate dihydrate, sucrose, ethyl maltol, titanium dioxide, calcium phosphate, malic acid, citric acid, sunset yellow dye; lemon - lemon flavor, quinoline yellow dye; blackcurrant - blackcurrant flavor, Ponso 4R dye, brilliant blue dye.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

The action of Stopgripan is due to the properties of its active components:

  • pheniramine: has antiallergic and anti-edema effect, helps to reduce vascular permeability, nasal discharge, lacrimation, as well as eliminate sneezing;
  • phenylephrine: has a vasoconstrictor effect, which helps to eliminate edema of the mucous membranes of the nose, paranasal sinuses and nasopharynx, reduce nasal discharge and, as a result, facilitate nasal breathing;
  • paracetamol: has analgesic and antipyretic properties;
  • ascorbic acid: improves the tolerance of paracetamol and lengthens its effect; takes part in the regulation of carbohydrate metabolism, redox processes, blood clotting, tissue regeneration, as well as in the synthesis of steroid hormones; increases the body's resistance to infections, reduces vascular permeability, the need for vitamins B 1, B 2, A, E, pantothenic and folic acid.

Indications for use

  • colds, flu, sinusitis, rhinopharyngitis, acute rhinitis, inflammation of the paranasal sinuses, which are accompanied by chills, fever, runny nose, headache, nasal congestion;
  • weak and moderate pain syndrome against the background of arthralgia, myalgia, neuralgia, migraine, toothache and headache, pain in trauma, algodismenorrhea.

Contraindications

Absolute:

  • alcoholism;
  • combined use with tricyclic antidepressants, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, beta-blockers, as well as drugs that contain the active components of Stopgripan;
  • diabetes;
  • portal hypertension;
  • pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding;
  • age up to 12 years;
  • individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

  • deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase;
  • arterial hypertension;

Instructions for the use of Stopgripan: method and dosage

Stopgripan is taken orally.

First, you need to pour the contents of 1 sachet into a glass, fill the glass with hot water, stir until completely dissolved.

Recommended scheme of use: 3-4 times a day (with intervals of at least 6 hours) 1 sachet. Maximum 4 sachets per day.

If, after five days of therapy, the symptoms of the disease persist, you should consult your doctor.

Side effects

If the dosage regimen is observed, Stopgripan is usually well tolerated. In some cases, the following side reactions may develop: dizziness, increased excitability, a decrease in the speed of psychomotor reactions, increased blood pressure, allergic reactions (in the form of itching, rash, urticaria, angioedema), glucosuria, xerostomia, vomiting, nausea, epigastric pain areas, palpitations, sleep disturbances, renal colic, urinary retention, increased intraocular pressure, accommodation paresis, mydriasis.

Paracetamol is a part of Stopgripan, therefore, in rare cases, the development of disorders of the hematopoietic system (in the form of thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia) can be observed; with a long course with the use of high doses, disorders of the kidney and liver function may occur.

Overdose

Stopgripan overdose can be caused by paracetamol.

Possible symptoms: pallor of the skin, pain in the epigastric region, vomiting, nausea, anorexia; in severe cases - an increase in prothrombin time, liver failure, increased activity of hepatic transaminases, hepatonecrosis, coma and encephalopathy. A detailed clinical picture of liver damage appears after 1-6 days. Liver failure rarely occurs with lightning speed, it can be complicated by renal failure (in the form of tubular necrosis).

Therapy: gastric lavage is shown followed by the intake of activated carbon; symptomatic treatment; administration 8-9 hours after an overdose of SH-group donors and precursors of glutathione synthesis - methionine, after 12 hours - N-acetylcysteine.

To avoid toxic liver damage, Stopgripan should not be combined with alcoholic beverages.

Drug interactions

  • monoamine oxidase inhibitors, sedatives, ethanol: their effect is enhanced;
  • phenothiazine derivatives, antidepressants, antipsychotic and antiparkinsonian drugs: the likelihood of xerostomia, constipation, urinary retention increases;
  • glucocorticosteroids: the risk of increased intraocular pressure increases;
  • indirect anticoagulants: their effectiveness increases (due to paracetamol);
  • uricosuric drugs: their effectiveness decreases (due to paracetamol);
  • monoamine oxidase inhibitors, furazolidone: the likelihood of developing a hypertensive crisis, agitation, hyperpyrexia increases (due to pheniramine);
  • tricyclic antidepressants: sympathomimetic effect is enhanced;
  • halothane: the risk of developing ventricular arrhythmias increases;
  • guanethidine: its hypotensive effect increases, at the same time, the alpha-adrenostimulating activity of phenylephrine increases;
  • barbiturates, diphenin, carbamazepine, rifampicin and other inducers of microsomal liver enzymes: the likelihood of the hepatotoxic effect of paracetamol increases.
