Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Benzydamine, the active ingredient of Anidaca, is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) belonging to the indazole group. It has a local anesthetic and anti-inflammatory effect, restores microcirculation, and has antiseptic activity against a wide range of microorganisms. The mechanism of action of benzydamine is based on the stabilization of cell membranes and inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
The substance has antibacterial and specific antimicrobial properties, which is manifested by the rapid penetration of microorganisms through the membranes, resulting in damage to cellular structures, disruption of metabolic processes and cell death.
Benzydamine is active against Candida albicans. It leads to structural modifications of the cell walls of fungi and their metabolic chains, which becomes an obstacle to their reproduction and is the basis for the use of benzydamine against the background of inflammation in the oral cavity, including processes of an infectious origin.
Pharmacokinetics
When applied topically through the mucous membranes, benzydamine is well absorbed and penetrates into inflamed tissues. In blood plasma, it is found in an amount that is not enough to obtain systemic effects.
Excretion of the substance occurs mainly by the kidneys in the form of conjugation products or inactive metabolites.
