A special type of fiber, beta-glucan, also contributes to the long-term feeling of fullness that occurs when eating even small amounts of oat products. Fiber is one of the most important components of the diet, as it participates in the formation of a food lump, forcing it to move along the gastrointestinal tract and preventing stagnation of feces in the intestines. Oncologists are sounding the alarm in connection with the spread of colon cancer among urban residents of civilized countries. Among the most important reasons for growth is the lack of fiber in refined foods. The beneficial properties of oats make it one of the best preventive measures for this and many other diseases.
Oats contain a large amount of minerals necessary for metabolic processes. It
contains iodine, phosphorus, copper, zinc, manganese, sodium, magnesium, fluorine, chlorine, cobalt. The starch in oat grains also plays an important role in making oat broths slimy. When taken orally, mucous broths envelop the intestines, providing anti-inflammatory and protective effects. Due to this property of oats, it is used in case of poisoning, infectious and inflammatory bowel diseases.
