Bradycardia
Bradycardia (bradycardia; Greek bradys - slow + Greek kardia - heart) - reduced heart rate.
Types of bradycardia:
- Relative - in which the heart rate, which is somewhat elevated or normal for normal conditions, does not reach the value characteristic of these particular conditions (for example, with fever); it is noted in practically healthy people who have been experiencing intense physical exertion for a long period, as well as in some diseases (meningitis, typhoid fever);
- Sinus (sinualis; synonym: sinus bradycardia) - in which the sinus-atrial node is the source of the rhythm; it is noted in many forms of extracardiac and cardiac pathology, less often in practically healthy people;
- Athletes (synonym: bradycardia of high fitness) - sinus bradycardia, which is formed as a mechanism of adaptation to prolonged and / or sharp physical stress in practically healthy people; noted at rest and with physical stress, which is insignificant for a given person;
- Nodal (nodalis) - appearing as a form of atrioventricular rhythm of the heart, moderate bradycardia (usually exceeding 50 contractions per minute).
