Fluomizin is a local antiseptic drug used in gynecology.

Release form and composition

The dosage form of Fluomizin is vaginal tablets: white, biconvex, oval (in a cardboard box, 1 blister with 6 tablets).

Composition of 1 vaginal tablet:

  • active substance: dequalinium chloride - 10 mg;
  • auxiliary components: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Dequalinium chloride is a quaternary ammonium compound with a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity. Active against most gram-positive bacteria Streptococcus spp. (including β-hemolytic streptococci of groups A and B), Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria spp., gram-negative bacteria Pseudomonas spp., Gardnerella vaginalis, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Serratia spp., Proteus spp., anaerobes group D), protozoa (Trichomonas vaginalis), fungi of the genus Candida (Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida glabrata).

Pharmacokinetics

When administered intravaginally, dequalinium chloride is absorbed in an extremely small amount into the systemic circulation through the vaginal mucosa.

It is metabolized to a 2,2-dicarboxylic acid derivative.

It is excreted through the intestines in unconjugated form.

Indications for use

  • bacterial vaginosis;
  • candidal / trichomonas vaginitis;
  • conditions before childbirth and gynecological operations (vaginal sanitation).

Contraindications

  • ulcerative lesions of the epithelium of the cervix and vagina;

Instructions for the use of Fluomizin: method and dosage

The vaginal tablet should be inserted deep into the vagina (in the supine position with slightly bent legs) before going to bed in the evening.

Recommended regimen: 1 vaginal tablet per day for a course of 6 days. In order to avoid relapse, a full course of therapy should be carried out.

Treatment during menstruation should be discontinued, after its termination the use of Fluomisin should be continued.

Side effects

In extremely rare cases, local reactions of irritation (erosion), itching, redness or burning of the vaginal mucosa are possible (may be associated with signs of vaginal infection, allergic reactions, fever.
