Composition
Flexen's active ingredient: ketoprofen - 50 mg. Excipients used: hydrated soybean oil, vegetable oil, soy lecithin, beeswax. Capsule composition: sorbitol, gelatin, glycerol, titanium dioxide, sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium ethyl parahydroxybenzoate.
pharmachologic effect
Flexen has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiaggregatory and antipyretic effects. The analgesic effect is due to both peripheral and central mechanisms. Flexen has anti-bradykinin action.
Pharmacokinetics of Flexen
The binding of the drug to plasma proteins is 99%. The therapeutic concentration of Flexen in blood plasma is maintained for 6-8 hours. The drug is metabolized by glucuronidation in the liver. It is excreted mainly by the kidneys and up to 8% through the intestines. The drug does not cumulate. The half-life is 1.6-1.9 hours.
Indications for Flexen's use
Flexen is used to treat acute pain syndromes in inflammatory processes of various etiologies:
- psoriatic arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, gouty arthritis (in acute attacks, fast-acting dosage forms are preferred);
- algodismenorrhea;
- tendosynovitis, bursitis;
- myalgia, sciatica, neuralgia, radiculitis, dorsalgia;
- post-traumatic pain syndrome;
- headache and toothache;
- adnexitis, otitis media;
- muscle sprains and bruises;
- pain syndrome in cancer.
Contraindications
- exacerbation of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
- individual intolerance to ketoprofen, acetylsalicylic acid;
- dysfunction of the liver and kidneys;
- severe heart failure;
- blood disorders (thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, hemophilia, hemocoagulation disorders);
- relief of pain after surgical treatment of the cardiovascular system;
- breastfeeding and pregnancy;
- patients under 15 years of age.
Caution should be exercised in patients:
- with rhinitis, bronchial asthma, nasal mucosa polyps, urticaria;
- with cerebrovascular diseases, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases;
- with anemia, blood diseases;
- suffering from alcoholism;
- with cirrhosis of the liver caused by alcoholism;
- with diabetes, hyperbilirubinemia, dehydration, sepsis;
- smokers;
- old age.
Flexen dosage and method of administration
Flexen's capsules are taken orally, without chewing, with water after meals. The usual dose for an adult patient is 1-2 capsules 2-3 times a day.
Side effects of Flexen
From the nervous system: dizziness, headache, insomnia, nervousness, agitation, drowsiness, asthenia, depression, confusion, forgetfulness, peripheral neuropathy, migraine.
From the digestive system: gastropathy caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, dyspepsia (vomiting, nausea, flatulence, heartburn, diarrhea, loss of appetite), stomatitis, abdominal pain.
From the senses: conjunctivitis, blurred vision, dryness of the mucous membrane of the eye, hyperemia, conjunctiva, eye pain, vertigo, hearing loss.
On the part of the skin: eczema, alopecia, erythema multiforme exudative, photodermatitis.
From the side of the cardiovascular system: tachycardia, increased blood pressure.
From the urinary system: cystitis, edema syndrome, urethritis, interstitial nephritis, hematuria, nephrotic syndrome.
Respiratory system: bronchospasm, dyspnea, laryngeal edema, hemoptysis, rhinitis, shortness of breath.
From the side of hematopoiesis: rarely - anemia, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia.
Allergic reactions: itching of the skin, skin rash, angioedema, anaphylactic shock, exfoliative dermatitis.
According to reviews, Flexen can also cause side effects such as: myalgia, increased sweating, muscle twitching, vaginal bleeding, thirst.
In case of an overdose with Flexen, the following symptoms may appear: nausea, drowsiness, abdominal pain, vomiting, bleeding, renal dysfunction or liver function. Symptomatic treatment is recommended, including gastric lavage and the use of activated charcoal. There is no antidote.
Interaction of Flexen with other drugs
Flexen enhances the effect of: antiplatelet agents, anticoagulants, fibrinolytics, estrogens, ethanol, and also enhances the side effects of mineralocorticosteroids and glucocorticosteroids. Weakens the effect of antihypertensive drugs.
Simultaneous administration of Flexenas with analogs from the group of non-hormonal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as ethanol, glucocorticosteroids and corticotropin, can cause ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding and increase the risk of kidney dysfunction.
Reviews of Flexen therapy in combination with oral anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, thrombolytics, heparin, cefoperazone, cefatetan and cefamandol showed the possible development of bleeding.
The combination with sodium valproate can cause platelet aggregation disorders.
Flexen's hematotoxicity is enhanced by myelotoxic agents.
Patients combining Flexen with warfarin, lithium salts or coumarin anticoagulants should be under medical supervision.
It is necessary to take special care when prescribing Flexen analogues to patients with peptic ulcer, hepatic and renal insufficiency. According to the instructions of Flexen, it is forbidden to combine with alcoholic beverages.
Persons doing work that requires concentration of attention, including driving vehicles, should take special care during the period of taking Flexen.
