Finalgel is a drug from the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used externally. The preparation contains the active ingredient - piroxicam. The drug has an analgesic effect, relieves swelling, inflammation, and also reduces platelet aggregation. Due to the high effectiveness of this drug, the reviews about Finalgel are positive.
The mechanism of action of Finalgel is to reduce the formation of inflammatory mediators (derivatives of arachidonic acid), collagen (stimulates platelet aggregation), and decreases the production of lysosomal enzymes.
After a single application of Finalgel under the bandage in an amount of 20 mg of 0.5% gel, the maximum plasma concentration is reached after 26 hours. When applied to the skin, 6-62% of the active substance is absorbed. The half-life of Finalgel is 46 hours.
Indications for the use of Finalgel

- inflammatory and degenerative pathology of joints, bone, ligamentous apparatus (ankylosing spondylitis, bursitis, arthritis, osteoarthritis, JRA, periarthritis of the shoulder scapula, tendovaginitis, rheumatoid arthritis, tendinitis);
- overstrain, stretching of muscles, ligaments;
- closed injuries of the musculoskeletal system, accompanied by swelling, pain;
- sports injury;
- dislocations;
- bruises.
Contraindications to the use of Finalgel
According to the instructions for Finalgel, contraindications to its use are:
- individual intolerance to piroxicam;
- a history of an allergic reaction to other NSAIDs;
- renal failure;
- age up to 14 years.
Finalgel should be used with caution in allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, recurrent nasal polyposis, paranasal sinuses, CLD, chronic lung infections.
Finalgel method of application
Finalgel is used topically. A small amount of gel (1 g of active ingredient - medium dosage - contained in a gel with a volume of a hazelnut) should be slowly rubbed into the affected area. Repeat 3-4 times a day. The duration of therapy depends on the specific clinical case, the severity of symptoms, an average of two to four weeks. The gel may be applied under a bandage to improve absorption. Do not apply the drug to damaged skin or open wounds.
Side effect
When using Finalgel, the appearance of skin irritation (itching, redness, peeling, burning), allergic reactions was rarely noted.
Application during pregnancy Finalgel
The use of Finalgel and analogues in the I-II trimesters of pregnancy is contraindicated. With caution, Finalgel should be prescribed during lactation, since the drug passes into breast milk.
Interaction with other drugs

Overdose
When using dosages that exceed the maximum permissible, the appearance of headache, nausea, symptoms of gastrointestinal tract damage was noted.
