Falimint is a drug belonging to the group of antitussives that can eliminate an unproductive cough (cough without sputum separation). The preparation contains the active ingredient - acetylaminonitropropoxybenzene. Upon contact with the mucous membrane, Falimint irritates the nerve endings, providing a slight analgesic effect. The drug also has an antiseptic and antiemetic effect, which makes it possible to use Falimint in dental practice.
Falimint's properties are comparable to those of menthol. This drug, like menthol, causes a feeling of coolness in the throat and mouth. Falimint does not dry out the mucous membrane and does not cause significant numbness in the mouth. Falimint also has anti-inflammatory effects. Thanks to these properties, the reviews about Falimint are positive.
After oral administration, Falimint is quite well absorbed in the digestive tract. In plasma it is detected unchanged. The maximum plasma concentration is reached one hour after taking the drug. It is excreted from the body by the kidneys in the form of metabolites.
