Release form and composition
Dosage form - concentrate for the preparation of a solution for intravenous (i / v) administration (5 ml in ampoules, in blisters of 5 pcs., In a cardboard box 2 packs and instructions for the use of L-lysine aescinat).
The active substance is L-lysine escinate, in 1 ml of concentrate - 1 mg.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Escina lysinate - the active substance of the drug, helps to reduce the activity of lysosomal hydrolases. This prevents the breakdown of mucopolysaccharides in the walls of the capillaries, as well as in the surrounding connective tissues. Thus, increased vascular tissue permeability is normalized and an analgesic and anti-edema (anti-exudative) effect appears.
Thanks to the use of the drug, the vascular tone increases and a moderate hypoglycemic effect is noted.
Indications for use
- Traumatic or postoperative edema of the spinal cord or brain;
- Edema of soft tissues of various localization of postoperative and post-traumatic genesis;
- Edema against the background of a disorder of the peripheral venous circulation.
Contraindications
- Severe renal and / or liver dysfunction;
- Bleeding;
- The period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- Age under 18;
- Intolerance to the components of the drug.
L-lysine escinat, instructions for use: method and dosage
L-lysine escinate is intended for intravenous slow drip or jet administration only. Intra-arterial administration is strictly prohibited!
The recommended daily dose of the drug is 5-10 ml.
Do not use the drug without prior dilution.
A solution for intravenous administration is prepared by dissolving the concentrate in 0.9% sodium chloride solution:
- Solution for infusion: 50-100 ml;
- Solution for jet injection: in 10-15 ml.
In traumatic brain injury, postoperative edema of the spinal cord and brain with symptoms of edema-swelling, extensive swelling of soft tissues due to injury and other life-threatening conditions of the patient, the daily dose should be increased to 20 ml and administered in equal shares in 2 doses. The course of use of the drug depends on the clinical indications and the effectiveness of therapy and can last from 2 to 8 days.
Side effects
Against the background of individual intolerance to L-lysine aescinat, undesirable effects may develop:
- Nervous system: tremors, dizziness, headache; in isolated cases - short-term loss of consciousness, ataxia;
- Digestive system: nausea; in isolated cases - diarrhea, vomiting;
- Respiratory system: isolated cases - shortness of breath, dry cough, feeling short of breath, bronchial obstruction;
- Hepatobiliary system: increased activity of bilirubin and transaminases;
- Cardiovascular system: lowering blood pressure (BP), tachycardia, increased blood pressure, chest pain;
- Allergic reactions: itching, petechial, papular or erythematous skin rash, urticaria, fever, hyperemia of the face and lips; in isolated cases - anaphylactic shock, Quincke's edema;
- Local reactions: burning sensation along the vein (upon administration), pain in the arm, phlebitis;
- Others: fever, general weakness, chills.
Overdose
The main symptoms are epigastric pain, tachycardia, fever, nausea, heartburn.
Therapy: symptomatic.

Prescribing the drug to patients with hepatocholecystitis in some cases may cause a short-term increase in bilirubin and transaminase activity, which does not pose a threat and does not require discontinuation of the drug.
The concentrate contains ethanol in a volume of 23.8%, or up to 2.4 ml in a single dose and up to 6.1 ml in a daily dose.
The drug should be prescribed with caution for epilepsy, alcoholism, liver diseases.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

Drug interactions
Aminoglycosides, when used simultaneously with L-lysine aescinat, can increase their nephrotoxicity.
With prolonged previous therapy with anticoagulants or the need to combine them with the drug, the doses of anticoagulants should be adjusted under the control of the prothrombin index.
Concomitant therapy with cephalosporin antibiotics complicates the binding of L-lysine escinat to plasma proteins and increases the risk of its side effects on the background of an increase in the concentration of free escin in the blood.
One should take into account the presence of 96% ethyl alcohol in the composition of the drug while prescribing other drugs.
