Cypromed is a local antibacterial agent from the group of fluoroquinolones. It is used in ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology.

Release form and composition

  • eye drops 0.3%: clear solution from colorless to pale yellow (5 ml each in plastic dropper bottles or dark glass bottles, complete with a dropper, 1 bottle in a cardboard box);
  • ear drops 0.3%: a clear solution from colorless to light yellow (10 ml each in plastic dropper bottles or dark glass bottles complete with a dropper, 1 bottle in a cardboard box).

Active ingredient: ciprofloxacin (in the form of hydrochloride), in 1 ml - 3 mg.

Additional components:

  • eye drops: sodium chloride, lactic acid, sodium hydroxide, sodium edetate, benzalkonium chloride, water for injection;
  • ear drops: propylene glycol, benzalkonium chloride, lactic acid.

Indications for use

Eye drops

Tsipromed is used to treat diseases of the eye and its appendages caused by microorganisms sensitive to ciprofloxacin, such as:

  • anterior uveitis;
  • dacryocystitis;
  • keratitis;
  • acute and subacute conjunctivitis;
  • inflammatory diseases of the eyelids, including blepharitis.

For the treatment and prevention of infectious complications, the drug is prescribed for injuries of the eye or its appendages, as well as in the case of surgical interventions on the eyeball.

Ear drops

Tsipromed is used to treat acute and chronic ear infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to ciprofloxacin, such as:

  • internal otitis media;
  • infectious inflammatory diseases of the Eustachian tube;
  • acute and chronic otitis media;
  • otitis externa (inflammation of the external auditory canal).

Also, the drug is used to prevent infectious otitis media before and after surgery, in case of ear injuries and the removal of a foreign body from the external auditory canal, accompanied by damage to the ear tissues.

Contraindications

  • children under 1 year old - eye drops, up to 15 years old - ear drops;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • hypersensitivity to any component of Cypromed or other fluoroquinolones.

Ear drops should be used with caution in acute perforated otitis media.

Method of administration and dosage

Eye drops

The drug is prescribed 1 drop in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye. If necessary, the dose is increased to 2 drops.

Recommended frequency of instillations and duration of treatment, depending on the indications and severity of the inflammatory process:

  • anterior uveitis: 8-12 times a day, the duration of treatment is determined individually;
  • acute bacterial conjunctivitis, simple, ulcerative and scaly blepharitis: 4-8 times a day for 5-14 days;
  • corneal damage caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa: 8-12 times a day for 2-3 weeks;
  • keratitis: up to 6 times a day for 2-4 weeks;
  • dacryocystitis and canaliculitis: acute - 6-12 times a day, chronic - 4-8 times a day, the duration of the therapeutic course is determined individually;
  • prevention of secondary infection with injuries of the eye and its appendages: 4-8 times a day for 1-2 weeks;
  • prevention of inflammatory diseases after surgery with eyeball perforation: 4–6 times a day during the entire postoperative period (depending on the clinical situation, it is 5–30 days).

Ear drops

The drug is instilled into the ear, 5 drops 3 times a day. First, you should sanitize the external auditory canal (rinse and dry) and warm the drops to body temperature.

Instillation recommendations:

  • lie on your side;
  • throw your head back;
  • drip the drug;
  • pull the earlobe down and back to allow the drops to drain into the ear canal;
  • leave the head tilted back for about 2 minutes, if necessary, a cotton swab can be placed in the external ear canal.

The duration of treatment is determined individually. Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, after the symptoms of the disease disappear, Tsipromed should be continued to be used within 48 hours.

Side effects

Eye drops

  • immediately after instillation: short-term (1-2 minutes) burning sensation, pain, itching, hyperemia of the mucous membrane of the eye, unpleasant taste in the mouth;
  • possible: photophobia, decreased visual acuity, sensation of a foreign body in the eye, keratitis, lacrimation, keratopathy, edema of the eyelids, the appearance of spots or infiltration of the cornea, the appearance of a white crystalline precipitate in patients with corneal ulcers;
  • others: the development of superinfection, allergic reactions.

Ear drops

  • slight soreness and hyperemia of the tympanic membrane;
  • allergic reactions.

special instructions

Cypromed in the form of eye drops contains a preservative that can be deposited in soft contact lenses and have an adverse effect on the tissues of the eye. For this reason, during the treatment period, it is recommended to refuse to wear soft contact lenses, and to remove hard contact lenses before instillation and install no earlier than 15 minutes after instillation.

In the case of the simultaneous appointment of other ophthalmic agents, at least 5-minute intervals must be maintained between their use.

After instillation, the clarity of visual perception may decrease, psychophysical reactions may slow down, therefore, until the condition stabilizes, it is recommended to refrain from driving and engaging in potentially hazardous activities.

Drug interactions

Ciprofloxacin is incompatible with physically or chemically unstable drugs with a pH value of 3-4.
