Zincteral is a drug that helps to replenish zinc deficiency and stimulates metabolic processes in the body.
Release form and composition
The dosage form of Zincteral is film-coated tablets: shape - round, color - violet-pink (150 pcs. In plastic bottles, in a cardboard box 1 bottle; 25 pcs. In blisters, in a cardboard box 1 or 2 packages).
Composition of 1 coated tablet:
- active substance: zinc sulfate monohydrate - 124 mg;
- additional components: polyvinylpyrrolidone - 20 mg; pharmaceutical lactose - 78.5 mg; potato starch - 38.75 mg; talc - 12.38 mg; titanium dioxide - 1,897 mg; magnesium stearate - 1.37 mg; hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (Methocel E-5 premium) - 6.77 mg; Sicovit Azorubinlack E 122 - 0.948 mg; polyoxyethylene glycol (Carbowax 4000) 0.379 mg
Indications for use
- diseases that can lead to zinc deficiency in the body (in combination with other drugs);
- long-term use of corticosteroids, especially at the time of their withdrawal;
- enteropathic acrodermatitis (Acrodermatitis enteropathica);
- purulent / pustular acne (Acne phlegmonosa / Acne pustulosa);
- nesting / malignant baldness (Alopecia areata / Alopecia maligna);
- difficult to heal wounds (as an additional remedy).
Contraindications
- age up to 4 years;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Method of administration and dosage
Zincteral is taken orally. You cannot chew or divide the tablets.
Recommended dosage regimen:
- alopecia areata, acrodermatitis enteropathic: all age groups of patients - 3 times a day, 1 tablet (preferably 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal); after clinical improvement, the frequency of administration is reduced to 2 times a day, then, until the symptoms of the disease disappear completely, up to 1 time per day;
- malignant alopecia: adults - 1–2 tablets 3 times a day; children - 1 tablet 3 times a day;
- purulent / pustular acne: adults - 1-2 tablets per day; children - 1 tablet a day;
- conditions associated with a lack of zinc: adults - 3 times a day, 1 tablet (preferably 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal); after clinical improvement, the frequency of administration is reduced to 1 time per day; children - 1 tablet a day.
Side effects
During the period of therapy, especially with the use of large doses, the following side reactions may develop: disorders of the digestive system (in the form of nausea, diarrhea, heartburn), leukopenia, proceeding with chills, fever, sore throat, sideroblastic anemia in combination with weakness and a decrease in the plasma level of copper in the blood.
Disorders such as a metallic taste in the mouth and headache are rare.
special instructions
When carrying out long-term therapy, the likelihood of copper deficiency must be taken into account.
It is recommended to avoid combined use with alcohol.
If you accidentally skip taking the drug, you cannot double the subsequent dose.
Drug interactions
In cases of the combined use of Zincteral with certain drugs / substances, the following effects may develop:
- tetracyclines, copper preparations: a decrease in their absorption (the recommended interval between taking these drugs is 2 hours);
- thiazide diuretics: increased excretion of zinc in the urine;
- folic acid: slight impairment of zinc absorption;
- iron in high doses, penicillamine and other complexing agents: a significant decrease in zinc absorption (the recommended interval between taking these drugs is 2 hours);
- complex medicines (for example, multivitamins with minerals) containing zinc: an increase in the plasma concentration of zinc;
- a diet rich in phosphates (such as dairy products, vegetables, or baked goods): decreased absorption of zinc (2 hours recommended).
Analogs
Analogues of Zincteral are: Zincite, Brewer's yeast with zinc, Zinc sulfate 0.25%, boric acid 2% sterile solution.
Terms and conditions of storage
Store in a dry place at a temperature of 15-25 ° C. Keep out of the reach of children.
The shelf life is 3 years.
