The active ingredient is mesocarb (5 mg, 10 mg or 25 mg in 1 tablet).
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
The active ingredient in Sydnocarb, mesocarb, is a psychostimulant substance. In terms of chemical structure, it is similar to phenamine, but in comparison with it it has less toxicity, does not have a pronounced peripheral adrenostimulating activity, it affects noradrenergic structures of the brain more strongly than dopaminergic ones. Stimulates the reuptake of catecholamines and monoamine oxidase activity.
The development of the stimulating effect of mesocarb occurs gradually (there is no sharp initial activating effect). When compared with phenamine, the effect of mesocarb is long and is not accompanied by such effects as euphoria, motor agitation, tachycardia, and a sharp increase in blood pressure. During the aftereffect period, general weakness and drowsiness does not cause. Also, mesocarb has less pronounced addiction phenomena.
Pharmacokinetics
Mesocarb after oral administration is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
Metabolism occurs by C-hydroxylation of the benzene ring of the phenylcarbamoyl radical and the aliphatic chain of the phenylisopropyl substituent with the formation of the metabolite - α-oxidicarb. At the same time, the stimulating effect decreases, since α-oxidicarb penetrates poorly through the blood-brain barrier.
86% of the dose is excreted within 48 hours. Excretion routes: 60% - with urine; 30% - with feces; 10% - with exhaled air. Does not cumulate.
