Release form and composition

Salicylic acid dosage form:

  • alcohol solution for external use 1 or 2%: transparent, colorless liquid with the smell of alcohol (25, 40 or 80 ml of solution in a bottle, 1 bottle in a cardboard box);
  • ointment for external use 2, 5 or 10%: homogeneous, from white to light yellow (25 or 40 g in cans, 30 or 40 g in a tube, in a cardboard box 1 can or 1 tube, or 36 cans 40 g each, or 64 cans of 25 g in a cardboard box).

Composition of 100 g solution 1/2%:

  • active substance: salicylic acid - 1/2 g;
  • auxiliary component: ethyl alcohol 70%.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

The drug has a keratolytic, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and local irritant effect. Promotes cleaning of wound surfaces, accelerates healing. Interferes with the breakdown of proteins into amino acids.

Pharmacokinetics

When using the drug under an occlusive dressing, the maximum plasma concentration is reached 5 hours after application. Salicylic acid is excreted mainly in the form of metabolic products.

Salicylic acid solution inhibits the secretion of the sebaceous and sweat glands.

Indications for use

According to the instructions, Salicylic acid in the form of an ointment and an alcohol solution is recommended for the treatment of acne, burns, wounds, psoriasis, oily seborrhea, chronic eczema, dyskeratosis, hyperkeratosis, ichthyosis, corns, pityriasis lichen.

Contraindications

  • renal failure;
  • age up to 18 years;
  • pregnancy and lactation (due to lack of data);

Instructions for the use of salicylic acid: method and dosage

Salicylic acid solution is applied externally, treating the affected surface 2-3 times a day. The maximum dose for adults is 20 ml of a 1% solution, or 10 ml of a 20% solution per day, for children - 2 ml of a 1% solution, or 1 ml of a 2% solution per day. The duration of the drug should not exceed 7 days.

For acne, Salicylic acid is usually prescribed as a 1% solution. If there are several rashes, the product should be applied pointwise to each of them. If there are many pimples, salicylic acid should be used to wipe the entire surface of the face with a cotton swab dipped in a solution.

The ointment is also applied externally, applying in a thin layer 1-2 times a day. When treating wounds and burns, the affected surface should be pretreated by cleaning it from necrotic tissue, opening the bubbles and rinsing with an antiseptic solution, then apply a sterile bandage with ointment or apply an ointment and cover with a sterile napkin.
