Cytotec is a drug used to treat gastrointestinal diseases.

Saitotek stimulates blood flow to the mucous membranes, the process of producing bicarbonate and protective mucus, promotes the healing of ulcers and erosions in the gastrointestinal tract.

Indications for use

Since misoprostol causes contractions of the myometrium, Cytotec is used to terminate pregnancy. For this indication, the drug is used in combination with the antigestagen mifepristone, under the supervision of a gynecologist.

Method of administration and dosage

Cytotec for ulcers and erosions of the gastrointestinal tract is taken at 600-800 mcg per day in three or four doses. In some cases, it is allowed to use 800 mcg in two doses, and the last dose must be done before bedtime. Treatment for these indications lasts 1-2 months, after which a control endoscopy is performed to confirm the onset of remission.

Patients suffering from renal insufficiency or hypersensitivity to misoprostol are advised to take only 100 mcg of Saitotec.
