Cytotec is a drug used to treat gastrointestinal diseases.
Saitotek stimulates blood flow to the mucous membranes, the process of producing bicarbonate and protective mucus, promotes the healing of ulcers and erosions in the gastrointestinal tract.
There are reviews about Cytotek as a prophylactic agent that can prevent the appearance of erosive lesions on the gastrointestinal mucosa.
It was also found that the drug inhibits the stimulated and nocturnal production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, increases the strength and frequency of contraction of the intestinal muscles. The action of the drug begins half an hour after ingestion, lasts another 3-6 hours.
The active substance of Saitotec is misoprostol.
Release form Cytoteka
Cytotec is released in tablets.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Saitotek is prescribed for the prevention and treatment of erosions and gastrointestinal ulcers.
Since misoprostol causes contractions of the myometrium, Cytotec is used to terminate pregnancy. For this indication, the drug is used in combination with the antigestagen mifepristone, under the supervision of a gynecologist.
Method of administration and dosage
Cytotec for ulcers and erosions of the gastrointestinal tract is taken at 600-800 mcg per day in three or four doses. In some cases, it is allowed to use 800 mcg in two doses, and the last dose must be done before bedtime. Treatment for these indications lasts 1-2 months, after which a control endoscopy is performed to confirm the onset of remission.
Patients suffering from renal insufficiency or hypersensitivity to misoprostol are advised to take only 100 mcg of Saitotec.
Often the cause of the development of ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract is the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In this case, during treatment with non-steroids, it is recommended to take Cytotec for prophylaxis: 400-800 mcg in 2-4 doses. Prevention lasts as long as non-steroidal treatment.
For termination of pregnancy, Saitotec is used at the third stage of medical abortion. At the first stage, the woman is examined, at the second, under the supervision of a doctor, she takes 600 mg of Mifegin (the active ingredient of the drug is mifepristone). At the third stage of medical abortion, the woman needs to visit the gynecologist again after 36-48 hours and take 400 mg of Saitotec under his supervision. In most cases, the ovum comes out soon after taking the pills, less often after a few days. One or two weeks after the abortion, there is a scanty spotting from the vagina.
No later than 7-10 days after taking Mifegin tablets, a woman should undergo a control ultrasound scan to confirm the successful medical abortion.
Judging by the reviews about Saytotek, menstruation after using the drug for abortion occurs after 28-32 days.
