Release form and composition

Oftolik BK is produced in the form of eye drops without a preservative (in 0.4 ml dropper tubes, 5 dropper tubes in plastic cartridges, packed in laminated foil bags, in a cardboard box 1, 2, 4 or 6 bags).

1 ml of eye drops contains:

• active ingredients: polyvinyl alcohol - 14 mg, povidone - 6 mg;
• auxiliary substances: hydrochloric acid, sodium chloride, disodium edetate, sodium hydroxide, water for injection.

The keratoprotective effect of Oftolik BK is expressed in the protection of the cornea of the eye in the event of a reduced production of tear fluid or with excessive evaporation of the tear film.

Under the influence of polyvinyl alcohol and povidone, which have the properties of a lubricant, redness and irritation of the eyes are reduced. These substances coat the eyes with a film, reducing surface tension and preventing tear film from breaking.

The effect of polyvinyl alcohol is similar to the properties of mucin produced by the conjunctival glands: softening and lubricating (moisturizing) the surface of the eyeball, increasing the stability of the tear film of the eye.

Pharmacokinetics

Systemic absorption of drops from the surface of the eye is minimal. As a result of the instillation of Oftolik BK into each eye in an amount of 2 drops, the plasma concentration of its active substances 4 hours after the procedure remains below 10 ng / ml (a possible limit of quantitative determination).

Indications for use

According to the instructions, Oftolik BK is recommended for use in case of burning sensation, irritation and discomfort caused by dry eyes, as a substitute for tears with a decrease in tear fluid secretion, for the treatment of dry eye syndrome and other conditions requiring softening and / or moisturizing of the cornea.

Contraindications

Oftolik BK is used by instilling drops into the conjunctival sac.

• povidone solution: well compatible with most inorganic salts, natural / synthetic resins, other substances; interacts in solution with sodium salicylate, sulfathiazole, salicylic acid, tannin, phenobarbital, and other substances; may reduce the effectiveness of certain preservatives (for example, thiomersal) as a result of the formation of complexes with them.
