Eye drops Oftolik
Eye drops Oftolik

Ophthalmic is a keratoprotective agent used to moisturize and protect the cornea of the eye.

Release form and composition

Dosage form of Oftolik - eye drops: transparent colorless or slightly yellowish liquid (5 or 10 ml in plastic dropper bottles, in a cardboard box 1 bottle).

Composition of 1 ml drops:

  • active substances: polyvinyl alcohol - 14 mg; povidone - 6 mg;
  • auxiliary components: benzalkonium chloride, disodium edetate, sodium chloride, water for injection.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Ophthalmic has a protective effect on the cornea in patients with reduced tear fluid secretion, as well as with increased tear film evaporation. The active ingredients of the drug reduce eye irritation and redness, reduce the tension on the surface of the tear film and prevent tearing. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is similar in effect to mucin produced by the conjunctival glands. It softens and moisturizes the surface of the eye, increases the stability of the tear film.

Pharmacokinetics

The drug has minimal systemic absorption when used as directed.

Indications for use

  • a feeling of discomfort, burning, and irritation caused by dry eyes;
  • decreased secretion of tear fluid;
  • dry eye syndrome;
  • conditions requiring hydration and softening of the cornea.

Contraindications

According to the instructions, Oftolik is contraindicated in case of increased sensitivity to its components.

Instructions for the use of Oftolik: method and dosage

Eye drops Oftolik are intended for instillation into the conjunctival sac.

It is recommended to apply 1-2 drops 3-4 times a day. The dose and frequency of instillations depends on the severity of the symptoms of the disease.

It is recommended to observe the following rules when instilling eye drops:

  1. Wash hands thoroughly.
  2. Shake the bottle well, then remove the cap.
  3. Tilt your head back and pull the lower eyelid down (the tip of the pipette should not touch the skin or surface of the eye to avoid infection of its mucous membrane).
  4. Turn the bottle over and drip the required number of drops into the conjunctival sac.
  5. At the end of the procedure, close the bottle tightly with the lid.

Side effects

Allergic reactions are possible.

Overdose

Overdose cases of Oftolik have not been recorded.

special instructions

It is not allowed to use the drug if its color or transparency changes.

It is required to stop instillation and seek medical advice in the following cases: during therapy, the symptoms do not disappear within 72 hours; vision deteriorates and pain intensifies; eye redness / irritation does not go away.

Due to the content of benzalkonium chloride in the eye drops Oftolik, contact lenses should not be worn within 20 minutes after instillation.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

Due to the lack of sufficient experience in the use of Oftolik in pregnant and lactating women, its appointment in these groups of patients is possible only in the case when the expected benefit to the woman outweighs the possible risks to the fetus or child.

Drug interactions

PVA is susceptible to esterification reactions typical of compounds with secondary hydroxy groups. When exposed to strong acids, it breaks down, softens or dissolves in weak acids and alkalis. In high concentrations, the synthetic polymer is incompatible with inorganic salts (especially phosphoric and sulfuric acid salts). Upon reaction with phosphates, a 5% PVA precipitate may form. In the presence of boric acid sodium salt (borax), a gel can form from the PVA solution.

Povidone interacts in solution with sodium salicylate, sulfathiazole, salicylic acid, phenobarbital, tannin and other substances. Some preservatives (for example, thiomersal) form complexes with povidone, thereby reducing their effectiveness.

Analogs

Analogs of Oftolik are Vet-Komod, Oko Drops, Optive, Oftagel, Oftalmosol, Artelak, Sikapos, Vidisik, Hilo-dresser, etc.

Terms and conditions of storage

Store in a tightly closed bottle, away from light, at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C. Keep out of the reach of children. Avoid freezing.

Shelf life is 3 years.

After opening the bottle, it is allowed to use drops for 45 days.
