Dosage forms of Oxolinum release:

- Nasal ointment 0.25%: from light yellow to white, during storage, the appearance of a pink tint is permissible (in aluminum or laminate tubes of 10, 15, 25, 30 g, 1 tube each in a cardboard box; 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 g in glass cans, 20, 30, 40 cans in a cardboard box);
- Ointment for external use 3%: from light yellow to white, during storage, the appearance of a pink tint is permissible (in aluminum or plastic tubes or in cans of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40 or 50 g, 1 tube each or a jar in a cardboard box).
The composition of 100 mg of Oksolin ointment for topical use includes:

Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
The drug is characterized by a virucidal effect on the influenza virus, which manifests itself in direct contact with the virus-containing material. Dioxotetrahydroxytetrahydronaphthalene prevents the reproduction of the virus after it enters cells and blocks the binding sites of the influenza virus (mainly type A2) with the surface of cell membranes.
Pharmacokinetics
When applied to the nasal mucosa, up to 20% of dioxotetrahydroxytetrahydronaphthalene is absorbed. In the body, the substance does not accumulate and is excreted in the urine for 24 hours.
Indications for use
Topical ointment, nasal ointment
- Eye diseases, rhinitis with viral etiology (treatment);
- Influenza (prevention).
Ointment for external use
Oxolinum is used to treat warts, flat and common, and genital warts.
Contraindications
An absolute contraindication is hypersensitivity to the components of the ointment.
With caution, Oxolin should be prescribed during pregnancy, during breastfeeding, as well as for the treatment of children under 2 years of age.

Nasal ointment, topical ointment
Topical ointment and nasal ointment Oxolin are applied topically.
The dosage regimen is determined by the indications (for children and adults):
- Viral rhinitis (treatment): application area - nasal mucosa, strip length - 3-5 mm, frequency of application - 2-3 times a day, course duration - 3-4 days;
- Viral diseases of the eyes: method of application - lay behind the lower eyelid, strip length - 2-3 mm, frequency of application - 3-4 times a day; as part of combined treatment with other antiviral drugs - frequency of use - 1 time per day at night;
- Influenza (prevention): area of application - nasal mucosa, strip length - 3-5 mm, frequency of application - 2-3 times a day. The drug is recommended for use in contact with patients with influenza and / or during the rise and maximum development of an epidemic outbreak of influenza (course duration - 25 days).
Ointment for external use
Oxolin is used externally, lubricating the surface of warts (including genital warts).
The frequency of application is 2-3 times a day, the duration of the treatment course is from 14 days to 2 months.
After applying the ointment, occlusive dressings with wax paper can be applied to enhance the effect.
Side effects
Possible side effects:
- Nasal ointment, topical ointment: burning sensation of the eyes or nasal mucosa, rhinorrhea;
- Ointment for external use: dermatitis, burning sensation, skin staining blue (easy to wash off).
